AMELIE was represented at the Cleveland Clinic Surgical Innovation Summit 2026, with Prof. Charles Knowles moderating and Prof. Richard Day as a panellist for 'The Future of Surgery Is Function, Not Structure – Bioelectronics, Neuromodulation, and Regenerative Medicine'.
Richard says: “It was a privilege to join fellow leaders on the panel. Our conversation explored how regenerative medicine will change the future of surgery, which included reference to the AMELIE project. Thank you to my fellow panellists and moderator Prof. Charles Knowles."
The AMELIE project joined the UCLH Research Open Day on 8 October 2026! From exploring regenerative medicine to testing knowledge with our “Poo or False?” quiz, we sparked conversations about science, incontinence and the barriers to seeking help.
Embarrassment and fear of judgement remain important challenges. Let's break the stigma and make talking about incontinence easier.

We are at the UCLH Research Open Day today! Come and learn about the AMELIE project. We are at Stand 45 on the second floor of University College London Hospital. #faecalincontinence #incontinence
With the help of investment and strategic partnership, we can bring a new faecal incontinence treatment into clinical practice. Watch our video to find out more about the project and get in touch if you'd like to be involved in its future: amelie-project.eu/
What people with lived experience of faecal incontinence after childbirth injury say about the AMELIE project and their condition:

ALT "Life could have been so different" "Research like AMELIE means that there’s still hope for those who suffer with faecal incontinence that we can receive adequate and accessible treatment" "young women are still, all these years later, suffering from the same injuries ... hence my plea for more prevention, as well as treatment" "AMELIE could be a game changer"
People with lived experience of faecal incontinence have kindly shared their stories with us. They highlight the challenges many individuals face, as well as the hope that the AMELIE project can help bring meaningful change in the future. Read them here: amelie-project.eu/patient-ex…
Members of the AMELIE team were delighted to be guests on the "Can I Butt In?" podcast from Bowel Research UK. Listen to the episode to find out more about our research and how it could help those affected by faecal incontinence: canibuttin.podbean.com/e/026…
It’s World Continence Week, and one of the themes this year is women’s health and incontinence. The AMELIE team is developing a new therapy for people who have faecal incontinence after anal sphincter injury, including injuries caused during childbirth. #continencematters
Last month we reached the exciting milestone of treating our first patient in the trial. Find out more about how our research aims to improve the quality of life for those affected by faecal incontinence: amelie-project.eu/

Last week we had the opportunity to present AMELIE (Horizon 2020 funded project) at VC Café London, where we hosted a stand showcasing our approach to treating faecal incontinence and supporting women’s health.
The discussions also provided useful insights into how health-focused investors evaluate early-stage medical innovations, highlighting the importance of clearly articulating the value proposition, development pathway, and future milestones.
A very useful learning experience for the team and an encouraging step as we continue developing AMELIE. @QMUL @istecnico @AarhusUni @AUHdk @quironsalud @NHSBT @ucl
We're showcasing at Venture Café London’s Thursday Gathering, "From Research Gaps to Breakthroughs: Women's Health Innovation", on Thursday 26th February. Register here: community.venturecafelondon.…
