The Central Criminal Court has heard that a man with schizophrenia on trial for triple murder, qualifies for a verdict of guilty of manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility. But a prosecution psychiatrist told the court today that he didn't believe Robert O'Connor qualified for a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity, after considering his drug use and the way he behaved after he stabbed his parents and brother. #VMNews

Birth control is one of the most common gateway drugs into psychiatry for young women. I see the pattern over and over. She starts the pill or an IUD. Months later she's anxious, irritable or depressed. Nobody connects the dots, so she gets a diagnosis and a psych med while the hormones keep destabilizing her mood. A Danish study followed over 1 million women. Every hormonal method raised the risk of ending up on an antidepressant, and for teens on the hormonal IUD that risk more than doubled. When I see an elephant, I call it an elephant. When I see poor research, I explain why it is poor research. It’s not personal. It’s my obligation as a scientist. But Cochrane called it “bad behaviour.” Cochrane is a social club and criticism of its fellows’ Cochrane reviews is not welcome. bit.ly/3suwr0l

Best of luck to @dr_morrissey tomorrow. He is coming before the medical council at a fitness to practice inquiry because being a moral and ethical GP is apparently a bad thing these days. As reported by @blueskylou, he will raise the tragic and horrific death of young footballer Roy Butler who really did not want to get the jab but felt, like many very young people, pressured to get it in order to fulfill his dreams. Dreams that sadly are no more. No one has been held to account for this coercion of young people. Roy received one Jannsen jab. Despite that it had been withdrawn from the market just a few days previously. Micheal Martin told the public young people should take the Jannsen jab, despite contraindications, after it was shown to cause serious adverse effects and deaths in younger recipients. The public CAN attend the hearing. Which will take place at the Talbot Hotel in Stillorgan at 10.30am tomorrow.

The sertraline (Zoloft) molecule crosses the placenta and goes into the baby's developing brain. In the baby's brain, Zoloft (orange) physically blocks the serotonin transporter protein (blue) so that serotonin (purple) cannot re-enter the neuron — which it normally does in a developing fetal brain.
98,000,000,000,000,000,000 molecules. That's how many sertraline molecules are in a standard 50 mg dose of Zoloft. Yes, 98 quintillion. And during pregnancy a significant number of those 98 quintillion molecules cross the placenta and enter the developing baby.

Two interviews with NIH director Jay Bhattacharya about poor health, poor science, Covid-19, censorship, and Cochrane’s downfall. I have summarised the many interesting issues, with my comments. My own interview was filmed. bit.ly/4ifOLka.

The FDA says Ozempic-type drugs don't raise the risk of suicidal thoughts. I used to work there. I think they got it wrong. In my practice, I've seen people develop severe anxiety and depression within weeks of starting a GLP-1. Online it's been nicknamed "Ozempic personality." So why did the FDA miss it? Two reasons. 1. Clinical trials can hide it. Losing weight helps some people's mood. If the drug lifts mood in some people and causes depression in others, the totals can look equal. "No difference" doesn't mean no one was harmed. 2. Case reports get brushed aside. When I was there, a drug safety officer told me she received a thousand reports a day. Nobody has time to call patients and doctors, so reports get dismissed as "limited information." Here's my worry. Doctors are now being told to reassure patients there's no link and refer them to a mental health professional. So you stay on the drug, get labeled with a mental illness, and maybe end up on an SSRI or benzo for what was really a side effect. What to do: if anxiety or depression shows up within a week to a few months of starting, and it's out of proportion to your life, suspect the drug and talk to your doctor. In what I've seen, symptoms often clear within 1 to 2 weeks of stopping. If you're struggling, call or text 988 (US) or your local crisis line. Informative blog about how harmful it can be to tell people that emotional problems like depression are caused by their brains. It reduces people's sense of agency and stops people understanding their emotions as useful signals about their lives.
When we tell people that their depression stems from a chemical imbalance, are we inadvertently giving them the wrong mindset, by telling them that they have little control over their own emotions? Are we depriving them of the tools they need to recover?" reclaimyourinnerlife.com/p/t…

The drugmakers' own RCT data show so-called "antidepressants" and so-called "antipsychotics" INCREASE the rate of completed suicides. amazon.com/Prescription-Sorr…
Psychiatric drugs are psychoactive, but so are insulin and blood pressure tablets. That doesn't make them the same as alcohol. Schizophrenia involves real problems with dopamine that cause voices and paranoia. Antipsychotics target that, which is why many people stop getting locked up, stop hearing things, and manage to hold down a job or see their kids. A few beers have never fixed that for anyone. It's the same with serious depression. Leave it untreated for long enough and the brain changes. The medications aren't perfect and they don't fix everything, but they lower the risk of suicide and help people get moving again. Coffee doesn't do that. The idea that something isn't real medicine if it doesn't permanently fix a defect falls apart when you look at half the drugs doctors actually use. Severe illness still needs treatment.

In 2013, one of the most famous anchors in America gave her daytime show to a mother whose healthy 21-year-old was found dead in bed 18 days after a Gardasil shot. Pharma's response was swift. Two weeks later, the show's cancellation was announced. 🧵

In a large NIMH study, 23% of patients with schizophrenia tested positive for antibodies to gluten. In controls it was 3%. In a small trial, patients with those markers who went gluten-free improved more than we usually see with antipsychotics. A larger follow-up found significant gains in negative symptoms. Trudy, who runs clinical operations at my clinic, spent 20 years on antipsychotics. Gluten-free, she's been off all meds for 6 years with no relapse. Unexplained symptoms, gut issues, autoimmune history? Try 4 weeks gluten-free. And never quit meds suddenly. Taper slowly with your doctor.
