UvA cuts ties with Big Oil? Most likely not. The "new procedure" is basically what was done before ("only if the project is green"), but now there is a third party committee involved. Guess what? the advice of the committee is non-binding.
Following extensive consultations within all areas of the university, the UvA has decided that it will no longer collaborate with companies in the fossil fuel industry unless a number of strict conditions are met.

I'm a 3rd year fine art student and my final show has been censored by @NottmCollege.
Not because of nudity, offensive language, hate-speech or anything similar.
But because it contained criticism of the College.

For all the university administrators 📢📢
Do not shrug your shoulders and decide that this is just the way it is ⬇️
Recognize it, put yourself in this lecturer’s shoes as a 25-year old in a dead-end job, and then make (small) changes to improve it

Full time teaching and after 5 y no possibility of extension or permanent contract? No chance of obtaining a PhD? University level teaching without research?
This is structural teaching: Why are these not regular assistant professor jobs?

Unfortunately, we increasingly have to make a distinction between actual academic research and the university as a poor facilitator of this.
However, action groups want to change things for the better. Join them this afternoon👇

We are so fortunate to have students like this, who care and will do something for social justice. This is all DESPITE bureaucrats, managers, executive boards, who want to keep hierarchies and make sure rankings and image stay above people's needs, well-being and social justice.
Er is een doneeractie opgezet voor de docent Gert Regterschot die al 27 jaar onbetaald les geeft bij de @tu/e
Meer dan 18000 euro is er al opgehaald door de actie van de meelevende student👍

Is this true @tweetsunl?! If so, it's a real punch to the gut for temporary staff and those of us struggling to make ends meet.
More people leaving academia is the likely consequence. The strategy now seems to be "they can't strike if they don't work for us anymore..."

I was slated to moderate this event yesterday but with two hours before the starting time, and after security asked last minute to have everyone present pre-registered (surveillance much), the whole thing was canceled. 👇🏻this is why we need autonomous, democratic universities – at The Hague, The Netherlands
🚨This event was CANCELED yesterday. Apparently, @UniLeidenNews considers the topic to be charged with ‘sensitivity’ and ‘potential tensions’.
I am a proud graduate of @UniLeiden but I am sad and ashamed of this.

An outrage. Universities are not committed to fair labour agreements. They don't want to reduce flex, and refuse to compensate inflation. At this rate, many employees on universities will become working poor.
IF @tweetsunl does not agree to a fair CLA, 0.7 will escalate.

Did you cancel the Israel-Palestina event AGAIN yesterday two hours in advance, while the Leiden D&I office booked the lecture hall on behalf of the students? Overpolicing much?

1) Update on the 7th Collective Labour Agreement round
All is not well
➡️UNL is very hesitant with permanent contracts
➡️UNL has offered two low pay raises: either 6 or 7% with extra cash of 1200-700. The latter offer being lower.
A disgrace for low-income and flex👎
