One month into my #PaternityLeave, as grateful as I am that Adira's birth was smooth & Serena has been recovering well; this leave has been vital for our family. With Olympia, watching my wife fight for her life, I realized not having paid leave was unconscionable. Sure, all my employees had it, but the vast majority of Americans don't — and that includes new moms (1 in 4 women in the US return to work within 2 weeks of childbirth). If you know me, you know I don't like just talking, I believe in action. I started this fight when Olympia was born because I realized how lucky I was and we took the fight to Congress and did get 12 weeks of parental leave for all federal employees (and recently including military!) — we have much more to do. More to come. nytimes.com/2020/04/15/paren…

And this YES thanks Pastor @mmiofsky
Church pro tip: Save yourself time & find a new church if the one you try: ➡️believes in a “complimentarian” view of women ➡️is vague/wants to “have coffee to talk” when you ask if they welcome LGBTQ folks ➡️says racism/the work to resist it is a “social” not spiritual issue

What I’ve discovered on Twitter is there are a lot of people masquerading as theologians and it is sad because people listen to them. It’s amateur hour out here when it comes to takes on faith. Number one sign you are dealing with an amateur - no humility, all certainty.

We must be strong enough or it will destroy us 💯
If German kids are strong enough to learn about the Holocaust — then American students should be strong enough to learn about slavery and the Native American genocide.

RIP Mr. Gerson. I have long enjoyed your powerful writing.
“Even using the language and argumentation of the playground, Trump does his damage. He implies that the institutions of American government are and should be White dominated… He encourages the idea that minorities are aggressors against Whites.” washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

Every fall, Americans send about 8 million tons of bagged leaves to landfills. But you don't have to. Keep leaf litter on the ground — it fertilizes the soil and gives shelter to small wildlife. n.pr/3FazW0t
