Still Ticketmaster shenanigans for #coldplay - tickets not actually available unless you paid more than double for some third party "experience." I was ~6000 in the queue so pretty early...

@SolarTogetherUK I run a high mileage EV and a 10kW heat pump plus immersion water heating. I know my consumption intimately. Yet you think it's "unusually high" and won't let me enter it?

Having now played with the calculator you don't use consumption at all to "optimise" the battery size, you only use the number of panels.

Just as an aside, our total kWh gas plus electricity before we got the heat pump was ~21,000 and I can't believe that's excessive (was over 10,000 just electricity with 5,000 EV). So we've dropped our total kWh to 16,000 by decarbonising. Your calculator is not catering for that.

@WiredUK 345kWh battery pack, on a Brompton? Think you might have some unit issues there, maybe drop the k?

This must be a UK article yet you give weight first as "30.6 pounds". Who the hell uses that in the UK? Either 30lb 10oz, or give kg first and the units for Americans after! Decimal lb is an abomination. Earlier in the article you used km first and converted to miles, a mess!

At 2am, my home automation is set to check whether our A2A heat pump needs to come on. Last night it was 0.2C above my experimental threshold, yet the ladies of my house confirmed it was still warm enough this morning! Solar gain 3C in the day, will be interesting to see tonight.

The "price cap" should be so irrelevant. Our energy cost so far today on @OctopusEnergy Agile - £1.72 includes our next 150 miles of driving, tank of hot water, dishwasher and 60C wash all simply scheduled last night when energy was green and cost was low on smart meter.

Last night and the one before were low price. What about the bad times? It's all about the average, ours is under 14p/kWh since December vs 26p "flexible". Small amount of care needed to avoid big loads 4-7pm, some timer switches for overnight and that is literally the "secret."

@SixtDE Your Munich instructions are wrong. I queued at #3, only to be told I needed to go directly to #4 (not a 💎 customer), where I queued again. Nobody used my QR code, I was given a different QR to unlock the key. Close to impressive but actually disjointed.

Then, the car we were assigned would not fully unlock, and the infotainment was set to Arabic language. The office staff swapped the car as there were no staff to help us in the garage! It's a long way from the bottom floor of the car park, back to the office with luggage...

Does GDPR need an urgent review? Exhibit A from a common popup - 1574 partners, 721 of whom want to measure advertising performance. Surely this is at minimum an abuse of legitimate interest - how can 1574 companies have any legitimate interest in my online habits? @ICOnews

Kudos to @signalapp for (finally) hiding phone number by default. This has always bothered me about @WhatsApp groups and many orgs flout GDPR as a result.

Not just me, a mere parent, who thinks the open addiction strategy might be a weak one either... now they've annoyed the Commissioner. theregister.com/2024/04/18/t…
Why does Tiktok think addiction is an acceptable corporate goal to have out in the open? Or even something consumers would want? Just saving this for the tobacco-style court cases... cc @asa_uk

Another great day on Agile @OctopusEnergy - we've used heat pump, immersion heater, charged EV, done washing. In total 57kWh or as much as some families use in a week, for less than TEN PENCE. Many negative-price half hours. Windy and sunny renewable energy!

@bbcnews "Big Rhodey" is almost as high as 10 double-decker buses - no, it isn't! The tallest tree in England (a Beech) is 45m high. Looking at the photo, it seems that someone has mixed length or width, with height, then failed to apply any sense check. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cnek…

@DanSextonBBC your name is on this story, are you actually claiming to have discovered a new tallest tree in England or did you get a bit excited looking for comparisons?

I haven't applied for planning. Unsolicited pdf. No email certificate. No personalisation or context to justify the pdf. It must be a scam, right @rbwm?

It's REAL! But it doesn't look like it. I went to the planning website and checked the reference. Reminded me that many months ago I submitted an objection to planning. Would have been nice if the email did that.

The insidious bit of this is my elderly neighbour who opened the pdf immediately - "it looked fine on my laptop". So we have a public body actively helping email scammers by sending official emails that look like the worst scams.
