Startup lesson that cost me years: revenue hides bad decisions. When money is coming in, you stop questioning the parts that are quietly broken. The bad hire, the wrong market, the feature nobody uses. Both my exits got better the moment I got honest about what wasn't working. What's the thing your revenue is currently hiding?

Fast is not the default. Fast is a decision you make on purpose, over and over. Same with a company. Nothing good happens by inertia. What did you ship this week on purpose, not by accident?

A store owner asked me: "why is my site slow, I just launched it?" Because fast is not the default. Fast is a decision you make on purpose, again and again. Every plugin, every tracking script, every un-optimized image is a small tax. They add up to seconds. Speed is subtraction, not addition. What's the last thing you removed to go faster?

Hey X friends & @grok 👋 I have this HUGE unused space above my staircase, and I feel like I’m wasting a ton of potential. How would you redesign it to make the most of every inch? Storage? Hidden room? Mini loft? Something completely different? Architects, designers & creative minds show me what you’d do 👇

The hardest part of building in public isn't the building. It's posting the days when nothing worked. Today I spent 4 hours on a feature, then deleted all of it. Wrong approach. But that's the real timeline. The highlight reel is a lie every founder tells. What did you delete this week that hurt to delete?

Your first 1,000 followers come from replies, not posts. I spent a year broadcasting into the void. The month I started actually replying to people, everything moved. Still the advice nobody wants to hear because it's slow and unglamorous.

Hosting is where most ecommerce speed problems actually live, and nobody wants to admit it. You can optimize your theme perfectly and still be slow on cheap shared hosting fighting 200 other sites for CPU. Magento is heavy. It needs infrastructure built for it, not a $5 plan. What are you paying per month for hosting right now?

18 years ago I started a community around a niche nobody thought was a business. No ads, no funding. Just showing up every week, answering questions, being useful before asking for anything. That community turned into tutorials, then courses, then two companies I sold. Everything I've built started as a room of people, not a product. What community shaped your career?

Boring reliability beats shiny features almost every time. Selling infrastructure taught me that. Nobody tweets about uptime, but it's the thing people actually pay for, year after year. What's the least glamorous thing your customers secretly love you for?

The fastest ecommerce win nobody wants to hear: fix your images before you touch anything else. On most Magento stores, images are 60 to 70% of page weight. Wrong format, wrong size, no lazy load. Get that right and your LCP drops before you've optimized a single line of code. What percentage of your page weight do you think is images?

I've spoken at conferences and I've organized them. Organizing is 10x harder and gets 1/10th the credit. The speaker gets the applause. The organizer gets the 2am "the projector is dead" call. That asymmetry is exactly why I'm building tools for the people backstage. Speaker or organizer, which have you been?

Build in public is quietly turning into perform in public. Less shipping, more posting screenshots of shipping. I'd rather post the days nothing worked. That's the part that's actually true.

Last year I built a directory of tech and ecommerce events. This year I have to organize 6 of them. So the directory became the place where I organize them. The story in 8 tweets 🧵

And I use AI only where it removes entire days. Event site generated from the brief. Social graphics consistent with the brand kit. Editorial plan from launch day to event day. Weeks of work gone.

The directory is still there and it still sends people to the events. On top of it grew an Event OS. 👉 nexevento.com Organizers: what eats more of your time, filling the room or running the day?
