The world must speak about Crimea — loudly, honestly, and with unity. This is exactly how I addressed the participants of the Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform in Stockholm. Crimea is not only about the past. It is about Europe’s security today. russia has turned the peninsula into a launching ground for war, destroys Ukrainian culture, spreads propaganda, persecutes Crimean Tatars and all those who refuse to accept the occupation. But Ukrainian resistance in Crimea endures — proving that the peninsula is Ukrainian not only by law, but also by spirit. I outlined Ukraine’s clear position on peace: we strive for peace, but it must be a just peace — protected from renewed aggression. No recognition of the russian occupation, no restrictions on Ukraine’s defence capabilities, no veto on our Euro-Atlantic course, and no decisions about Ukraine without Ukraine. Real peace is a combination of security, sanctions pressure, strengthened defence capabilities, and Ukraine’s integration into the EU and NATO. It was especially symbolic to see the 1710 Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk displayed in the Riksdag — one of Europe’s oldest constitutional acts, reminding us that Ukraine’s right to statehood and freedom has deep historical roots. I am grateful to Sweden and to the Speaker of the Riksdag, @andreasostgote, for hosting this year’s Summit and for their unwavering solidarity with Ukraine. Today, the Riksdag brought together parliamentary leaders of nations that stand with us and help deter russian aggression. We must continue to put pressure on the aggressor. We stand at a decisive moment. Our shared determination will define not only Ukraine’s future, but also Europe’s security and the strength of international law. Glory to Ukraine! 🇺🇦

Had a phone conversation with the Speaker of the Riksdag of Sweden, @andreasostgote. We discussed coordinated actions with our partners aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. I expressed gratitude for Sweden’s clear and principled stance that any agreements concerning Ukraine cannot be made without its participation and the consideration of its interests. We are united in our view that this moment is critical not only for Ukraine but for Europe as a whole, and therefore, sanctions and political pressure on russia must continue. I emphasised that Ukrainians seek peace – but only on just terms and with reliable security guarantees to ensure russia can no longer threaten Ukraine or other European countries. That is why it is important to maintain military and financial support until decisions are made that fully reflect these principles, while also increasing sanctions pressure on the aggressor. I expressed my appreciation for Sweden’s unwavering support and agreed to continue close coordination between our parliaments.

Підсумком стала Спільна заява — вагомий політичний документ, що засуджує злочини росії, підтримує створення Спеціального трибуналу за злочин агресії та закликає до справедливого миру. Заява також: • підтверджує підтримку суверенітету України; • визнає моральний обов’язок допомагати Україні; • підтримує використання заморожених активів рф для відбудови; • чітко заявляє: Україна має право на власний євроатлантичний вибір. Вдячний колегам за солідарність, лідерство й участь у цьому важливому рішенні. Справедливість — це те, чого прагне Буча. І ми зробимо все, щоб вона настала.

On the third anniversary of Bucha’s liberation — a city that has become a symbol of pain and resilience — it was here that the heads of parliaments of European countries gathered for the International Summit. The outcome was a Joint Statement — a powerful political document that condemns russia’s crimes, supports the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression, and calls for a just peace. The statement also: • reaffirms support for Ukraine’s sovereignty; • recognizes the moral duty to assist Ukraine; • supports the use of frozen russian assets for reconstruction; • clearly states: that Ukraine has the right to choose its Euro-Atlantic path. I am grateful to my colleagues for their solidarity, leadership, and participation in this important decision. Justice is what Bucha longs for.
