EU gas is above €90/MWh, its highest since Dec 2022. Brent is above $115, its highest since June 2022.
The EU has already paid €100bn+ extra for oil and gas since Hormuz closed. Not one extra molecule.

France, Germany and Italy currently have Freedom of Movement within the EU but amazingly 500 million people are not all trying to move to Paris, Berlin or Rome...
Don't believe the lies, Freedom of Movement would be a benefit to the UK.
I don’t think the main parties realise this - some of us will vote for whoever allows us down a path to rejoin. It’s that important.
I voted LD against Boris Johnson to stop Brexit in 2019 (and a monstrosity of a Tory PM and local MP), everything Jo Swinson said was correct and she was brave. I’m not remotely LD. If full Rejoin via referendum is offered I’ll vote Labour. And I’m not remotely Labour. It is to the eternal shame of the Tories that they ever became the party of Brexit when 2/3 of their MPs never backed it. I joined, worked for, married in to an outward looking, tolerant party. It’s unrecognisable - the ECHR stuff genuinely mad never mind the rest (Christ) and the cast of characters in charge the very people who routed it - all of them Trussers. I’m always country first, not me, I use my vote for the good of the country and the single best, most transformative thing for this country is to stop staggering along with 2 broken legs and get back in to the EU. I will vote for whoever reverses Brexit and has a chance of forming a majority government. I didn’t like how Burnham arrived and disagree with a lot of his agenda but on Brexit he’s bang on - keep going, give me that referendum tomorrow. I will run to the polling station. I’m not tribal, I’m looking for competence and a strong economy.

This makes Brexiteers wonderfully cross, but Burnham is spot on. It’s specifically cited by people on the ground. As one 19-year-old man from Sudan in Calais said: “Because of Brexit I believe that once I reach the UK I will be safe at last. No Dublin, no fingerprints any more.”

🚨 EXPLAIN THIS! Northern Ireland kept access to the EU goods market.
Since 2019:
🇪🇺 Northern Ireland: +12.7%
🇬🇧 UK: +6.3%
Almost DOUBLE the economic growth.
If leaving the EU was supposed to make us richer, why is Northern Ireland showing the Sunlit uplands are in the EU? 🇪🇺

Aha. Here's a man who has no idea. We led 2 immense geopolitical changes in Europe: Thatcher's single market and Major's enlargement. This created a peaceful, prosperous continental polity for the first time since the Roman Empire.
And you say we were a nodding donkey. We had weighted voting, not just one among 28. Reflecting the size and wealth of our nation. Equal to France and Germany. The big 3. We won nearly every battle because of that and our alliances with like minded members. The fact the British people never knew of our success was due to the narcissistic victim syndrome of tax evading newspaper owners and the supine politicians who feared them.
The fact that our Commissioners, elected MEPs and elected ministers were influential everywhere was simply unreported.
Boris Johnson's nonsense was though. Lies about bendy bananas etc.
We preferred to believe rubbish than understand reality.
And all about just 13% of our laws, mostly goldplated by our own civil service.
It was an historic tragedy.
Replying to @eurorealist
If you believe that a country's "purpose" is to be a nodding donkey at a table where it is (in the case of the EU) one in 28, you have no credibility as a democrat, and your views are indeed utter nonsense.
BTW "niche" =/= "nonsense".

🥳 The pro-EU majority continues to grow and deepen.
7m new voters have reached voting age since 2016 and oppose Brexit by about 5:1.
Allowing for turnout, Peter Kellner estimates 3.5m new pro-EU voters versus 700,000 new pro-Brexit voters.
Even if nobody from 2016 had changed their mind, that demographic shift alone would now produce roughly a 55–45 majority for EU membership.
Then add switching: around 5m voters have changed their minds, and roughly three-quarters of them moved from Leave to Rejoin.
Put together, Kellner arrives at:
🇪🇺 Rejoin 63%
🇬🇧 Stay out 37%
A majority of almost 9 million.

Much more of this nonsense and we're going to have to insist that America stop using British places in their names - we're talking to you New York, Boston and Washington

OMFG! This response from @AbdulElSayed to a completely bigoted question is probably the best thing I’ve heard all year.
Every bigot in America needs to listen to this three times.

🚨 Goldman Sachs has put numbers on Brexit choices.
Current Brexit deal: +0.3% GDP
Customs union: +1%
Single Market: up to +5%
Full EU membership: up to +6%
And Goldman estimates the UK economy is already around 6% smaller than its counterfactual path since the 2016 referendum.
Non wonder the debate is changing. The further Britain moves back towards Europe, the larger the potential economic dividend.
Brexit was sold as a growth strategy, but now 10 years later, the growth strategy is undoing Brexit asap.
Public seems reconciled with Freedom of Movement for an EU deal, strikingly so.
Freedom of Movement would be a "key condition" of rejoining the single market.
How sad & maddening that after a decade this still needs explaining to us.

One of the men in this picture is a politician currently serving 10 and a half years in prison for accepting Russian bribes. The other was his boss and doesn't think there's evidence of Russia interfering in UK politics.
