As always.
Big Ange Postecoglou fielded a question about “plastic and touristy fans” watching Tottenham.
This was his response ⬇️
Spoiler alert: he answered it brilliantly, with grace, dignity and, importantly, a helluvalot of empathy 🫶🏻

Thanks for including my thoughts in this week’s @SportsPunditHQ newsletter on why #WWERaw ticks a lot of boxes for Netflix (and would have equally done so for other Big-Techs such as #PrimeVideo and #AppleTVPlus):
🌎 global in terms of availability and audience, 🔒 quasi-ownership to create and capture long-term value, and 📽️ self-sufficient in the form of fully-packaged media product.
🎬 Netflix is in the business of storytelling: That evidently includes scripted sports entertainment now, but probably won’t stop there — the company revealed its intentions before with (unsuccessful) bids for Formula 1 and others. If a sports property fits the bill (not many do though), Netflix will jump on the opportunity again.
🤑 It’s not a money grab either by WWE: Netflix’s built-in foot traffic (also compared to Peacock) will do wonders for WWE’s audience expansion — both domestically and internationally, where Premium Live Events often become invisible for a casual audience behind the discovery and cost barriers of #WWENetwork.
...🤦🏼♂️ Absolutely, I did miss probably the most obvious pun ever when using “securing the bag” instead of “money in the bank” — thanks for reminding me, @andymarstonsp.

For perspective, the amount Amazon is paying for this one TV show with MrBeast is almost equal ($100m v $115m) to their recent investment in Bally Sports RSNs, which involves the rights to 37 clubs across the NBA, NHL, and MLB...
MrBeast is closing a deal to have a TV show greenlit for Prime Video.
The deal is worth nearly $100M & the first episode will air on his YouTube channel before going on Prime Video.

This post really got me thinking today - on the back of a few conversations that I’ve had recently around the SP meet ups (which get folk in early 20s through to their 60s and 70s) - about age… and agism
@RPMComo

I think this is especially important to highlight as the industry goes on a crusade to remove everything that is ‘male, pale, and stale’ - which in itself is a bit of an ageist remark.
How about instead we focus on competency and EQ/ kindness
