Name’s 𝐒𝐚𝐱𝐨𝐧, 26. working as a corporate legal officer — basically the guy buried under contracts, clauses, and endless deadlines. not the most experienced one in the room, but figuring things out as I go. Some days I survive, some days I learn — either way, I move forward.
My boss once told me his three main pieces of advice for when we become a legal professional:
1. Think & negotiate with flexibility. Sometimes you need to think like a lawyer, and other times like a user/counterpart. Your ability to think flexibly will determine whether you are
a true legal professional or just a typing machine robot
2. Have empathy for the company’s issues or cases. To truly be a legal professional, you need to treat the company’s business as if it were your own.
While some people have the mindset of pursuing a vertical career path, there are also those who always want to explore their careers and grow horizontally. Switching careers is not wrong. Everyone has the right to choose their own path. Just be yourself.
The plot twist is that this case actually turned into a dispute arising from a loan agreement between us and the company, as the counterparty failed to make the payment and faced the potential of default.
