We have known about #WPW and accessory pathways as a common cause of SVT for >100 years and have effective procedures to address them, but we still have NO IDEA why some patients are born with these extra slivers of muscle that electrically connect atria to ventricles. Medicinal use of lithium in pregnant women leads to heightened risk of a particular form of congenital heart disease associated with these pathways. Might variable levels of lithium in drinking water affect the chance a growing fetus will be born with such a pathway? @jclinicalinvest @UCSF @UCSFHospitals @stopafib @DrDave01 @KnowYourPulse JCI - Elevated lithium levels in drinking water are associated with higher prevalence of Wolff-Parkinson-White diagnoses jci.org/articles/view/205020

Adjunctive targeted disruption of the Purkinje network improved outcomes after VT ablation in patients who also had evidence of VF. It is critical to review every episode of ICD therapy and plan accordingly.
A #JACCCEP study showed that in pts. w/ prior spontaneous polymorphic VT/VF, adjunctive Purkinje de-networking during VT #epAblation was associated with a substantial reduction in recurrent ventricular arrhythmias, w/ a modest increase in risk of LBBB. bit.ly/4hVN5xl

Very important message from our group. In patients with recurrent AF after a first ablation, what we do next matters. Repeat catheter ablation was associated with a 35% lower risk of death, stroke, or HF hospitalization compared with cardioversion, with an NNT of only 14. This challenges the idea that management of recurrent AF should simply be based on operator preference. Recurrence after ablation should not be viewed as failure—it may be an opportunity to intervene again and improve meaningful clinical outcomes. Congratulations to @mabou_khalil @HanFengGHD @QMarashly and the entire team. #AFib #Ablation #EPeeps @PrashSanders @shivkumarmd @gautamsand @S_NarayanMD @Phiso_de @drsuneet @drjohnm @drluissaenz @leftbundle @KennethEllenbo1 @DrBradleyKnight @DrRoderickTung @atulverma_md
