sometimes when I Really Think about Delhi, it makes me want to cry. I have never hated a city more, but I have also never loved any city the way I love Delhi.
Bombay sounds beautiful, as does Madras
I genuinely have a question to all those who still call the city as Bombay and not Mumbai.
It has been 30 years since the city is renamed as Mumbai. And still the non-native speakers insist on calling it Bombay. Some of the native speakers also go by the same name while speaking in Hindi or English. I see that in reels, filmy people conversations, college kids' conversations, and everywhere else too.
I don't really have an issue with whatever you wanna call the city but the insistence of calling it Bombay is like disrespecting the local identity and language and feelings of the original inhabitants. And though Mumbai is a cosmopolitan city, it has its own language, culture, food, identify. The local flavour needs to be RESPECTED.
And don't give me a political argument.... Some of you weren't even born when the politics around it happened. Apart from that, what is the reason?

Every woman I spoke to said she was touched inappropriately by both male and female Delhi police/security officials as they marched the streets of Delhi to protest against the CEC in October. When India saw history being written, women were always a part of it. Why should this moment have been any different? The Indian women rose to demand justice alongside the men. But you must here what they were subjected for doing so. Detained beyond the night, bruised, slapped, abused and confined in areas outside of the national capital. Kept in isolation, no phones, no contact, no lawyers no access to washrooms. The abuse is over, but the scars remain. This mentally breaks the girls and they muster the courage to rise again. Of course, history cannot be written without them. In this documentary, we show the excesses of the Delhi Police in the name of lawful detentions, exactly how lawful were these “preemptive arrests” is the question that remains unanswered. Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) opened its news broadcast with footage of celebrations following the Student List's election victory — scenes it had failed to show the previous evening.
“For years, we failed to fulfill our duty. We kept silent, turned a blind eye, reported events one-sidedly, and failed to ask the necessary questions. For that, we owe our viewers an apology,” news anchor Goran Eror said.
Following the controversy, RTV's acting editor-in-chief Nenad Čačić resigned.
A similar incident occurred in Hungary, where state television also apologized to viewers after Viktor Orbán's election defeat.
