one of the most incredible timelapses i have ever produced--rare november thunderstorms, rare november snow, bitter cold, AND gorgeous auroras all in the span of FIVE DAYS and in ONE TIMELAPSE! (trimmed some)
note the trees quickly losing leaves, gravity waves, and more!
after procrastinating for over a MONTH, i finally bit the bullet and wrote in my journal. didn't end up procrastinating forever like what has happened before
because of how much has happened in the last month and how much detail i went into, this is easily my longest entry in YEARS, and likely my biggest EVER. my god, that's like an entire essay's worth and then some
hooopefully i don't have to do this again....

year ago today - an INSANE four-day period of rare atmospheric events began with this unusual late-season thunderstorm
seeing lightning here in November is quite rare, and we saw plenty on this night. got jumpscared by one (2nd video)
this was just the beginning....

4 years ago today - Elon Musk got mad at people constantly changing their names, so he made it so that any name changes would temporarily remove the checkmark from people's accounts
people then reacted accordingly
6 years ago today - at long last, Joe Biden was officially declared the winner of the election
Rudy Giuliani meant to hold a press conference at a Four Seasons hotel but accidentally booked it at a landscaping shop with the same name...and then just had to run with it LOL

today, November 7, 2026, the shooting of President William McKinley is the exact halfway point of America's history as an independent nation. it happened 45,718 days ago, and 45,718 days after the Declaration of Independence was signed
Replying to @jfkplus60
FLASH: President McKinley has been shot! The man's handkerchief concealed a revolver, which he fired twice into the President's torso. McKinley turns pale, swoons, and is caught by his personal secretary, George Cortelyou.

2 years ago today - shortly after midnight, the GOP won control of the Senate. by 1 AM, it was essentially official that Trump won the presidential race. the vibes were so existentially bleak
by 2 AM, NBC called PA for Trump. at 2:30 AM, Trump had a victory speech featuring the many sycophants that would soon lead our nation. at 3 AM, i gave up watching TV, and stood out on the patio. i stood there, staring into the heavens, silently begging for an answer for what had just transpired. i saw ~8 shooting stars
at 5:38 AM EST, AP called the race for Donald Trump. for the first time, he had won both the EC and the PV, and the entire federal government would be controlled by Republicans
shortly after, i attempted to get some sleep. at 2 PM, Kamala Harris conceded the election. everyone sane continued to be extremely depressed. signups for the other platform skyrocketed. calls to a certain hotline rose in frequency. CARROT Weather's headline that afternoon: "You stupid meatbags."
positives: Josh Stein (D) won the NC governor's race, Jeff Jackson (D) won the NC Attorney General race, and Elaine Marshall (D) won the NC secretary of state race. Missouri and Arizona both voted to lift abortion bans, and plenty more improved abortion rights. Nebraska voted to legalize medical marijuana. there were some smaller wins as well, though the overall election went terribly
2 years ago today - the 2024 US presidential election occurred (along with many other races). once polls closed, the night started solid, with Josh Stein (D) winning the NC governor race
however, as the night progressed, things looked worse...and worse....and worse. by midnight, the writing was on the wall--Trump would win reelection. however, it would be several hours beyond midnight before the race was called, so i will continue tomorrow
year ago today - the first episode of Vince Gilligan's new show Pluribus premiered on Apple TV, and so many people tried watching at once that the whole platform crashed
since the previews were so vague, we all (fortunately) came in blind and...man. what a watch
