This will be my new pinned tweet, documenting my case for a South-Western Scottish identity and reasserting our unique local heritage that has been forgotten. The South-West contains everything that makes Scotland great.
"Officialdom smiles upon uniformity" is one of those phrases that makes you remember how different the mindset of past generations was. The southwestern man resented central authority and bureaucracy. Today? A loyal servant of the welfare state.
Contrary to this claim that the government withheld funding for the NHS, spending has increased in real terms *every single year* — including during the "austerity" years of the coalition.
Ayrshire and Galloway were strongholds of the Scots language and the Protestant religion for centuries. By the turn of the twentieth century, both had been replaced by Anglicisation and irreligion.

To understand how this works, consider the phrase "Together, Elon Musk and I are worth over $800bn".
The significant fiscally positive parts of the Boriswave is a fraction of high earners. Keeping the bulk of low earners is expensive.
They're deliberately conflating the two.

Only British citizens born in Scotland or resident in Scotland for a period of years should be allowed to stand for election. The Scottish Parliament is for Scottish people and Scottish interests, not foreign students looking to pad their CVs.
SNP MSP Jenni Minto: "The changes that allowed people with limited leave to remain to stand for election should be reconsidered.
"They appear to have run ahead of what the public want and the rationale for making the change is simply not clear."

Sun out and it's perfectly crisp. Clear view of Ailsa Craig and Arran, the Arthurian isle of Avalon.
Mary McAleese represents all that is wrong with her generation in the Church. Reduced it to a social club whose teachings are optional, beyond a vague "be nice". It's no wonder attendance is dwindling everywhere.
Mary McAleese says baptising a baby is a breach of human rights because the child can't consent.
With respect, that's wrong.
Parents make decisions for their children every single day. What school they go to. What values they're raised with. What they eat, what they wear, who minds them. A baby can't consent to any of it. That's what being a parent is.
Faith is no different. If parents want to have their child christened, that's their call. If they'd rather not bring their child into any religion, that's their call too. It's a decision for the family, and nobody else.
Every child grows up and makes up their own mind. Plenty do.
Families in this country have enough to be worrying about without being told that bringing their child to be christened is a human rights abuse.
Leave parents alone. Let them raise their children as they see fit.
I was trying to think of Scotland A versus Scotland B but found it too hard. Urban Scotland is far too internally divided (Edinburgh v Glasgow...) and there are notable differences between the three other parts of Scotland (Highlands, south, north-east).

All Saints Day service at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Guangzhou. It was meant for worshippers, not visitors. Church staff asked me as I walked up if I was a believer.
“No, but I want to hear the sermon.”
“Ok, just don’t take the Eucharist.”
Sermon played on how the Chinese translation of “saint” 聖 is borrowed from Confucian term for sage. “Just as ancient Chinese texts tell us to learn from the sages,” said the priest, “so today we can learn from the saints.”
Looking in from the outside, I get the feeling that a lot of (predominantly Dublin-based) Caighdeán speakers really dislike native Gaeilgeoirí.
"[Immigration] is a question of the survival of our western civilisation... We [must] wake up and understand that we have to protect our territory, our borders, that if we are open to all forms of migration without any control, our world will collapse."

This is still the best FPS of all time. I have such good memories of this and Hardline (DUST BOWL!!) from when I stayed at my gran's house when I was 15. Amazing game.

When Jean-Marie Le Pen was asked close to death if he had any regrets, he said he had only one: he was Breton, but he'd never learned his native Celtic language that his mother would sing to him in.
So learn your language Gaelbros - don't let it be your life regret.
