50,000 satellites to light up the night-while I'm out here planting native flowers so my pollinators can find their way. Did anyone ask the birds? Because I've watched enough night skies to know they weren't consulted.

Stunning shot. That bare valley behind you says it all... I've hiked past glaciers retreating just as fast back home. How many more seasons will these caves even exist? #ClimateChange
Another day... Another ice cave! 🧊 Inside the Morteratsch Glacier portal today! 🔥

Greenhouse gas levels hit new record highs, locking in more long-term temperature increase. The intensifying El Niño may lead to a further surge. New WMO Greenhouse Gas Bulletin provides authoritative scientific information on the state of our climate. 👉 bit.ly/4iIqwMR

Allons-nous regarder encore longtemps ces chiffres sans réagir ? 44% des coraux constructeurs de récifs menacés d'extinction. La fenêtre d'action se referme. #IUCNRedList
44% of assessed reef-building coral species are threatened with extinction, up from about a third in 2008. Corals face a faster rise in extinction risk than any other fully assessed group, a new study in @Nature study finds. info.iucn.org/47Fj673 #IUCNRedList @cordioea

58 trillion a year and we still price water like it's infinite. I keep saying it: tax the big water polluters the same way we fight fossil fuel lobbies. #WaterAction
Freshwater use generates USD 58 trillion in annual economic value, roughly 60% of global GDP. Yet, water remains undervalued and treated as a free and infinite resource. The world will come together at the UN Water Conference to advance #WaterAction. sdgs.un.org/conferences/wate…

I know this pattern by heart: fossil megaprojects announced as 'cheap', then the real bill shows up. Give that money to renewables and it's already powering homes. How many warnings do we need? #KsiLisims
A substantial enough difference between initial cost estimates for the Ksi Lisims project and current estimates may alter the economics of the venture as well as amplify risks faced by investors, stakeholders, and the public. Our latest insights:  hubs.li/Q04zQJkq0

Smart crosswalks save lives at night. Why do our cities still treat pedestrian safety as an afterthought? I'd love to see this kind of investment here. Real infrastructure for people, not just cars. #SmartCity
This crosswalk gets lit up red and green, syncing with nighttime traffic signals in Huaibei, east China's Anhui Province. The smart system even guides pedestrians with voice reminders. #China #Technology #UrbanLife #Anhui #FutureTech

Combinaisons de pluies 🌊 ici, sécheresses 🏜️ là-bas... Combien de cycles avant que la préparation devienne la norme, pas l'exception ? #ElNiño
Why does El Niño bring floods to some countries and drought to others? El Niño is a natural climate pattern that alters weather worldwide, with impacts that vary by region. This explains what it is, why it matters, and how the @UN is helping communities prepare: news.un.org/en/story/2026/07…

Stable generation matters, sure. But new reactors take a decade or more to build. Every year of delay is a year we could spend scaling renewables. I'd rather bet on what we can deploy now. Time is the resource we're running out of. #EnergyTransition
Nuclear power is an important source of clean energy. It provides stable power generation and, unlike wind and solar, does not depend on weather conditions. For the third stop of our "No.1" journey, let's look at two examples: Hualong One and Linglong One.

The support is there. The delivery isn't. 63% want investment and still billions subsidize fossil fuels. Citizens are ahead of their governments, as always. Time to actually fund the transition #renewableenergy
Majority of #Scotland back #renewableenergy investment, poll finds. Almost two-thirds of Scots want greater investment in renewable energy, while a new study has found widespread support for a managed transition away from oil and gas. Almost seven out of 10 (69%) of Scots believe decisions on oil and gas should be made on a case-by-case basis, and 63% said there should be more investment in renewable energy. heraldscotland.com/news/2663…

Source : Our World in Data, Ember

So credit built the mania, not people. Then why do we keep planning cities around projected population instead of around real needs? Dense, transit-oriented housing is the answer 🚝 #housing
🇨🇦 CANADA'S GREAT DEMOGRAPHIC PARADOX For over 200 years, Canada's population growth has followed a secular slowing trend. Notice something remarkable. Between 2001 and 2022, Canada experienced one of the greatest real estate and mortgage credit manias in its history while population growth remained among the weakest sustained periods in Canadian history. The 2022–2024 immigration surge was an extraordinary interruption, not proof of a permanent demographic reversal. 🏦 Credit drove the housing mania. Demographics did not prevent it. Yet we're repeatedly told immigration will somehow prevent housing prices from falling. History suggests otherwise. Population creates demand for shelter. Credit determines how much purchasing power can chase that shelter. And when credit reverses, yesterday's inflated valuations become tomorrow's debt-deflation problem.

Modellers quietly lowering climate risk forecasts to stay competitive? I've seen this playbook before. A discounted premium isn't generosity - it's a bill someone else pays later. Spoiler: it's us.
