Government owes citizens both public safety and public accountability.
My case in @AmericanIntel_: retain useful surveillance tools like @flocksafety, but bind government and its private partners to law and restraint.

Does it deny the “personhood” of 25 year olds to say that they cannot run for President? Of citizens of India to say that they cannot vote in our elections? Why exactly should noncitizens with no status be counted for the apportionment of seats in the representative body? The analogy to slavery is utterly absurd unless @USCCB believes that all distinctions based on citizenship are unjust.

With all due respect, “personhood” is not a magical trump card that overrides the basic principles of the republican form of government. One cannot conclude from the bare fact of personhood that anyone and everyone has a right to be counted in the census, to vote, or to stand for office.
U.S. bishops are opposing proposed Census Bureau rule changes for the 2030 census, arguing that excluding noncitizens without lawful permanent resident status from the apportionment count would effectively deny them recognition as persons.

BlueChip. Built in America.
America made the first electronic computer to win a war.
Now we depend on our greatest adversaries to build the computers that run our economy and defend our nation.
Today, we bring it home.

One of the law students here has recently traveled to SCOTUS and discovered that I bear a striking resemblance to Chief Justice Melville Fuller, coming to show me the picture lol (this is from the internet, but her photo was from the same angle).
Based on these results, Independents are closer to Democrats in these value priorities than to Republicans. This is true both in terms of mean absolute difference (4.83pp vs. 8.33pp) and Spearman rank correlation (+0.774 vs. +0.402).
Rather than interpreting this as anyone having incorrect value priorities, I'd look at it as Republicans having a unique set of value priorities among this set. This represents an opportunity to make strong presentations from those points of difference. Winsomeness will go a long way.
New Gallup poll asks "which values the country most needs today?"
Out of a list of 12 values, Republicans put "patriotism" #1, for Dems it ranks dead last - by a lot.
Dems say "equality" is most needed, Republicans rank it 11th out of 12.

A lot of polls and factoids are meaningless.
This one is not.
It tells the whole story of the divide.

Regulation for Flock and other surveillance companies to ensure accountability and protection is the right way to go. I also wrote about this, though a bit more aggressively than @CharlesFLehman and @Rafa_Mangual (link in next), though this would also be a good start.

🚨 TUESDAY TAKEDOWN: STEAL SNAP. GET BUSTED.
More than $1 MILLION in alleged SNAP fraud at a Michigan convenience store.
Mohinder Singh, operator of Romario’s Party Store in Lansing, was indicted on one count of theft of public money and nine counts of SNAP fraud.
Prosecutors allege he:
▪️ Gave customers just 50 cents in cash for every $1 in SNAP benefits.
▪️ Accepted SNAP benefits to pay off personal debts and store credit.
▪️ Exchanged benefits for ineligible items.
If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison for theft of public money and up to five years for each SNAP fraud count.
SNAP is meant to help families put FOOD on the table. Taxpayers should never bankroll a fraud scheme.
