I was joined by @paulgconlon this week to discuss Australia’s proposed Digital Duty of Care Bill, errors in the Bureau of Meteorology’s raw temperature data, and the future fund’s growing surplus.

I recently spoke with @NAffects, journalist and founder of @liber_net, about Australia’s proposed Digital Duty of Care Bill and its implications for free speech and privacy.
We examined vague definitions of online harm, potential government surveillance through AI-powered "sock puppet" identities, plus the @AlboMP government’s failed world-first under-16 social media ban.

My annual lawn renovations have taught me that with strong roots, a clear plan and a little time, even the barest ground can turn green again.

The Malinauskas government has spent $1.8 million on storage and maintenance for four hydrogen-capable gas turbines in the past financial year.
Treasurer Koutsantonis previously said taxpayers were on the hook for $250 million to pay for the four turbines meant to drive the state government’s flagship $593 million hydrogen energy plan which was subsequently abandoned.
The Energy and Mining Department started an open market process to sell the turbines in August last year but no sale has yet eventuated.
Shadow Treasurer Ben Hood said, “Peter Malinauskas made bold promises about green energy....the Auditor-General shows more than $180 million has been spent on them so far."
A state government spokesperson said there were no further comments to add....

How could anyone trust @AnikaWells and @AlboMP about anything given how many lies they’ve been caught making about why they want sweeping powers to censor and spread disinformation? That’s the question I intend to ask @AnikaWells in a few minutes. Wish me luck!
The government today will introduce sweeping censorship that @AlboMP & @AnikaWells lie about. Below she claims the government wants to create a bot army of fake accounts for “research” when the bill clearly intends for them to be used in partisan warfare against fooled citizens.

Today @SenSHenderson will move to refer the exposure draft of the Online Safety Amendment (Digital Duty of Care) Bill and, contingent upon its introduction, the provisions of the bill, to committee for inquiry.
This move would delay the Bill’s passage and allow greater public awareness and input.
I urge the @AlboMP Government to abandon this Bill today. If they choose to proceed, I hope this Senate inquiry is successful and exposes the risks posed to freedom of expression and the liberty of Australians.
Recently we managed to expose their proposed Misinformation and Disinformation Bill via public scrutiny and the Government ultimately withdrew that bill before it was voted on.
Let’s hope for a repeat.
The @AustralianLabor government teamed up with the @Greens to defeat the motion. There will be no inquiry.
Now we wait to see what @AnikaWells and @AlboMP do next.
