No one knows you. No one has a story about who you are. No one is waiting for you to be the person you were yesterday. You're just a stranger in a chair by the window, watching a city that doesn't need anything from you.
It's the feeling that anything could happen. That the world is bigger than the walls you built around yourself back home. That the life you've been living is just one version of a life, and there are others, and they're not as far away as you thought.
At home, you're fixed. Known. You fit into a shape that other people recognize, and after a while, you forget you're even in a shape at all. But here, alone, somewhere new, the shape dissolves. You could be anyone. You could be more of yourself than you've ever been. No one is watching to see if you stay consistent.

People use soft exits to protect dignity, not because they’re afraid of honesty. There is something called Social Grace. Boundaries don’t always require bluntness, and honesty without empathy is just poor social awareness.
If someone has overstayed their welcome at your place, don’t make the mistake of lying or bringing up some funny reason why you need to leave so they can go
Tell them plainly that you’d like to be in your space alone, and you’d be happy if they could return home, they’d thank you so much for your honesty

how to have fun as an adult:

> don't forget the basics: move your body, get sunlight, take your vitamins, eat well, sleep
> your time to live life is happening NOW so stop saving it for later!!

i had an electrical engineering professor who played guitar who lamented to a professional guitarist he wasnt as good as him. the guitarist responded "it's a bit entitled for you to believe you could be as good at guitar as me when it's my full time job and a hobby for you"
i’m convinced you can get good at anything if you just do it enough.

a lot of people in super chill corporate or big tech jobs seem to feel numb because nothing really demands anything of them. that’s the cost of too little pressure
seems there’s a sweet spot where work has just enough tension to feel meaningful, without swallowing your whole life
but that combo, meaningful and balanced, feels pretty rare

Totally agree. Always tell my younger relatives to stop saying "Im not into math" or "Im a left brain person" or "MBTI told me im bad at x" as an excuse to not explore new things. Leonardo da Vinci was born in 1452 with no internet, yet he sculpted, painted, studied science, astronomy, chemistry, medical and even metallurgy. Not saying you should be him but go explore n learn stuff
