3 years ago, LAPD blew up a south central neighborhood. Dozens of families were displaced & 2 people died.
The city will now pay more than $21 million in settlements w/ those impacted
Of course, this $ comes out of the general fund & not LAPD’s budget. Officers keep their jobs.
ALT L.A. to pay $21 million in settlements tied to botched fireworks detonation by police

Stephen A. Smith does not have an interest in women's basketball... his interest is the aggregation and commodification of the white gaze and the labor of Black women necessary for that pursuit
Stephen A. Smith to Andraya Carter: "I am telling you right now you are going to be underpaid for the rest of what I believe will be an illustrious career unless you get your mind right about that marketing. It matters."
Andraya: "I hear you, Stephen A. But I will not sacrifice my basketball knowledge and my integrity in terms of the game for marketing. My marketing is doing just fine."
