On the concluding day of Van Mahotsav 2026, inaugurated the 'Janmadin Seuj Shapat Udyan' at Topatoli under the Dimoria LAC.
Guided by the vision of Hon'ble CM Dr. @himantabiswa dangoriya, one 'Janmadin Seuj Shapat Udyan' will be established in every LAC across Assam, encouraging citizens to celebrate their birthdays by planting a sapling. The Forest Department will undertake the care and maintenance of these trees, transforming every birthday into a lasting contribution towards a greener Assam. It was heartening to see several parents plant saplings today to mark their children's birthdays.

Today, Kaziranga bows its head in tribute to one of its bravest guardians.
Joymala was more than a patrol elephant, she was a silent protector who spent 34 years safeguarding the home of the tiger. From anti-poaching patrols to wildlife rescue operations, she stood beside our forest personnel through every challenge, helping protect one of the world's greatest tiger landscapes.
The unforgettable 2004 moment, when a tiger leapt over her during patrol, became a symbol of the extraordinary courage and deepend the bond between Kaziranga's patrol elephants and its wildlife.
As we bid her farewell with full honours, we salute a life of courage, loyalty and selfless service. Her legacy lives on through the generations of patrol elephants she leaves behind, continuing the mission of protecting Kaziranga and its majestic tigers.
Rest in peace, Joymala. Your footsteps may have faded from the forest trails, but your spirit will forever echo through the grasslands of Kaziranga ♥️

Public Advisory | Kaziranga National Park
With continuous rainfall leading to rising water levels, wild animals are expected to move across roads in and around Kaziranga National Park in search of safer ground.
I urge every citizen travelling through the Kaziranga corridors to exercise utmost caution and strictly follow the prohibitory orders issued under Section 163 of the BNSS by the district administration. These include maintaining a maximum speed of 40 kmph, avoiding unnecessary stopping, honking and any activity that may disturb wildlife.
Every cautious driver can save a precious life. Let us all work together to protect Assam's priceless wildlife during this critical monsoon season.

I was recently asked by members of the media about the status of the Golden Langurs rescued from an illegal wildlife trafficking network.
I am happy to inform that the 7 Golden Langurs, whose trafficking had made headlines, have now been successfully released back into the wild at Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park after rescue, rehabilitation and careful scientific monitoring.
Their return to their natural habitat is a testament to the dedicated efforts of our police, forest officials, wildlife experts, enforcement agencies and local communities.
This also sends a strong message to wildlife criminals: Assam has zero tolerance for poaching and wildlife trafficking.
Together, we remain committed to protecting Assam's rich biodiversity and safeguarding our natural heritage for future generations.

Positive headline of the day!
Assam’s Manas National Park Achieves Three Consecutive Years of Zero Rhino and Tiger Poaching..
In a major conservation milestone, Assam’s Manas National Park has recorded zero incidents of rhino and tiger poaching for three consecutive years, showcasing the remarkable success of the state's wildlife protection efforts and reinforcing its position as a leader in conservation.
The achievement marks a dramatic transformation for the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which once faced serious challenges from poaching and disturbances linked to insurgency. Today, Manas stands as a symbol of successful conservation, where protecting wildlife has become a shared mission of forest authorities, local communities and the government.
Located in western Assam along the foothills of the Himalayas, Manas National Park is one of India's most important biodiversity hotspots. The park is home to iconic species such as the one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, wild buffalo and several rare and endangered animals.
The milestone reflects years of sustained investment in wildlife protection. Authorities have strengthened anti-poaching operations through improved surveillance systems, enhanced patrolling, modern equipment, better infrastructure and greater community participation in conservation programmes.
The success at Manas mirrors Assam’s broader conservation achievements in recent years. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state has intensified efforts to protect its wildlife heritage through technology-driven monitoring, stronger enforcement mechanisms and habitat conservation initiatives. Assam has also recorded several years of zero rhino poaching in Kaziranga National Park, further strengthening its reputation as a national model for wildlife protection.
Conservation experts note that the recovery of wildlife populations and the absence of poaching incidents are indicators of a healthier and more secure ecosystem. The achievement also boosts eco-tourism potential, creating opportunities for local communities while encouraging sustainable development.
What was once a park frequently associated with conservation challenges is now being recognised for its success story. As officials proudly note, "Zero poaching is the new normal" in Manas.
From overcoming years of adversity to achieving three consecutive years without rhino or tiger poaching, Assam’s Manas National Park stands as a shining example of how commitment, community participation and effective conservation can secure a brighter future for wildlife.
