the stuff coming out of the newjeans contract leak is distressing, and yet I think a lot of us knew intuitively that these details are what goes on behind the scenes in general, and that govt oversight on kpop contracts is not taken seriously. govt needs to tighten up on this

it has to come from a popular pressure, which sadly seems to require some exceedingly awful, public-facing human disaster - the details of the industry being public knowledge isn't enough and mostly just has individuals pointing fingers at each other for "consuming wrong"

the political class and electorate of this new, progressive, nominally "socialist" movement is going to face its most important test yet now, and I don't think they're serious enough or prepared enough. my expectations are not high that much that ought to be done will be done
