A question worth asking on Juneteenth:
What is the difference between having rights and being able to benefit from them?
#Juneteenth reminds us: Rights on paper vs. rights in practice are not the same thing. That's as true today as it is in history.
Our founder @Auditrix' blog connects that idea to #Black #music #rights, #royalties, contracts, and representation.

Kacey Musgraves knows well that poking the MAGA bear only ends in raising more money for the causes she believes in, even if it means a few days of relentless bashing on Fox News.

No One Trolls MAGA Better Than Kacey Musgraves
Raising money for immigrant children, descending from disco testicles, and shading Ted Cruz, the Texas-born singer repeatedly drives MAGA crazy while making big bucks for charity.

The AFM fully supports the musicians of the @sfoperamusicians and pledges the resources necessary to support @afmLocal6. These musicians are world-class professionals who provide the foundation for the company's productions. Asking the musicians to absorb pay cuts or endure a five-year wage freeze while living in one of the costliest US urban areas undermines the orchestra and the institution itself.
Musicians cannot counter the cost of living on prestige alone. A five-year wage freeze is a pay cut when adjusted for inflation. If management continues on this path, they will lose talent and damage the San Francisco Opera's artistic quality and its reputation.
Management's claims of an unsustainable deficit conflict with the company's donor base, recent financial support, and strong ticket sales. It is contradictory for San Francisco Opera leadership to demand sacrifices from musicians while executive compensation grows.
We are deeply grateful to our @AGMusicalArtist and @IATSE siblings for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us in this fight. Our musicians want to perform, but they require a fair contract. We urge General Director Matthew Shilvock and the Board of Directors to return to the bargaining table immediately with a contract that respects the value these musicians bring to the community.

BREAKING: Jimmy Kimmel announces his interview with Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico will NOT air on ABC tomorrow, saying Trump’s FCC has threatened him, his show, ABC, its affiliates, and local stations over “simple traditional editorial decisions” and guest bookings.
Kimmel says the full interview will instead be posted to YouTube: “In the America we live in right now, that is the best that we can do until November.”

What a slap in the face to American cattlemen & consumers. Worse than socialism! Dumping foreign beef in U.S. markets can temporarily lower prices but it won’t incentivize American farmers to raise more beef. Bring back Country Of Origin Labels & pass my PRIME Act.

Consolidation ruins culture. Nearly all the workers at BrooklynVegan, Alt Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been laid off thanks to parent company Veeps, owned by (you guessed it!) Live Nation.

Just a reminder that Rand Paul is an “opthamologist,” certified by an ophthalmology board that he created. Rand Paul is not a virologist. Rand Paul’s wife invested in Remdesivir during the height of Covid as he pushed the drug on Americans. The Pauls failed to disclose their investment for 16 months. Rand Paul got richer during Covid.

You were vaccinated. Multiple times. How do I know?
Because I cooked an event you attended in early 2022. The venue’s policy was: if you wanted to attend unmasked, you had to be vaccinated (this didn’t stop until April that year at this venue). You also had to RSVP well in advance and provide a negative COVID test before the event. So if you were there, you met those requirements. But by all means, keep bullshitting.
Shame on @Spotify for platforming Tate
