Any trips to St John’s Kirk in Perth to promote it Peter? Always loved them.

I don’t usually swear on social media, but you, sir, are just a cunt.
This is great news. There should not be a second Scottish independence referendum. The people have already spoken. The extremes on both the left and the right who want to break up Britain should be ignored. We've been stronger together since 1707, and we're stronger together today. Three centuries together. Let's not throw that away.

@authorpetermay after a brain trauma injury 6 years ago my attention span made me lose interest in reading. Incredibly (for me) I'm totally hooked and almost finished The Black Loch. Revisiting places and characters from your novels I'd read pre-accident has been fantastic. Thnx

Quarry Hill Flats feature (in 1965, when their glory days well already well in the past) in @authorpetermay's outstanding & very moving novel The Runaway. Their history is outlined in the book so it's good to see what they looked like in their pomp.

#PeterMay's recent novel Black Loch, a sequel to his Lewis trilogy, reveals some awful facts about salmon farming. You expect a thriller and get fascinating info about the murky underside and ecological disaster of fish farms into the bargain. Great stuff! @authorpetermay

It’s amazing how folk renege on their principles to grab power.
I’ve yet to hear a radical thought from Andy Burnham as he campaigns to return. He’s U turned on the EU, and on trans rights. He’s appeasing the far right on immigration. And he’s vague about renationalising utilities - even water in England. All very Starmeresque.

In 1985, Carl Sagan told Congress that continuing to burn fossil fuels will increase global temperature, cause climate change, melt glaciers and ice sheets, and cause sea level rise. Imagine if we had listened to him them. No time to wait. #ActOnClimate #climate

@authorpetermay I am ecstatic! I read a lot and have just read your book Freeze Frame and I have no compunction in calling it one of the best books I have ever read! I literally could not put it down. Very clever clues and a twist at the end.

Unlikely. Your England was conquered and occupied many times over by different tribes and races. You are, as are we all, mongrels.
This has been the land of my ancestors for 4,000 years. It is mine. It will be my children’s too. A passport could never give anybody this feeling. This blessed plot. This England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

History’s billionaire equivalents built stuff like this. Follies? Perhaps, but they provided work for thousands of artisans and their families for generations. Unlike today’s billionaires, who just want to save themselves tax.
Lincoln Cathedral was built nearly 1,000 years ago, without modern machinery, engineering degrees, or materials. Today with every advantage imaginable, we rarely create anything that comes close. This isn’t a question of capability. It’s a question of standards. Why can’t we build like this anymore?

Not at all! Orban was a duplicitous bastard who, fortunately, is now electoral history. Which is not to praise Starmer, but don’t dare hold up Orban as anyone’s measure of worth.
