UAB just became Alabama's first and only AAU member — joining Yale, Harvard, MIT, Stanford and 68 other research universities.
The institutional case is complete. The athletics program needs to match it.

UAB alum. Champion. Leader. And someone with a real vision for what UAB can be.
If AK wants the permanent AD job, he’d have my full support. If not, priority No. 1 for the next AD should be making his life easier and keeping him at UAB.

With High Point out, the only chance for a non-power conference team to make the Sweet Sixteen is Utah State. Which has to beat Zona to get there.

High Point went 30-4, hasn't lost since mid-January - and wouldn't have sniffed an at large bid
Miami (OH) went undefeated in the regular season, finished 31-1 and ended up in Dayton
We REALLY need to re-evaluate how we go about selecting at-large teams for the NCAA Tournament

"It looks obvious high-majors need to play mid-majors during the season. They said we didn't play nobody. … Nobody would play us, just like they wouldn't play Miami (Ohio). But they have to play us in this tournament."

We live in a world where the non high major has to “validate” that they belong & when they don’t, they get criticized for being included.
Miami’s showing they didn’t belong — in the First Four. Deserved to be playing for first time Thursday or Friday. All good: MAC makes more $!
