RFA reported Rahile Omer’s death in prison. She was 14 when authorities put her in a camp in 2017 & sentenced her to 12 years when she reached 18. Her photo was leaked in a police file. It’s cruel, unjust, and inhumane. Beijing should be held to account. rfa.org/uyghur/news/2026/11/…

Durbari Journalists celebrated Agniveer scheme as a masterstroke and now the same lot is celebrating the changes brought in it as a masterstroke. If it gets cancelled in a few years or withdrawn softly as it happens, they will blame someone else for this scheme!

Having risen through the ranks and served the Indian Army for 28 years, including as a Recruitment Selection Officer and Training Officer in an Army Training Regiment, I have personally selected and trained thousands of Indian Army soldiers. I firmly believe the earlier recruitment system was time tested, professionally structured and well designed to ensure operational effectiveness, preserve regimental ethos and provide career progression for our Jawans. With due respect, extending the Agniveer scheme for two more years does not address its fundamental flaws. It risks undermining national security, operationalreadiness, combat experience and the long term career aspirations of our soldiers. The Indian Army is not an experimental employment scheme. It is a professional fighting force built on experience, continuity, competence and commitment. National security must always come first. Our Jawans deserve a career, not uncertainty. #Agnipath #Agniveer @narendramodi @PMOIndia @adgpi @rajnathsingh
#WATCH | Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani says, "... First of all, I wish to state that the Agnipath scheme in its current form, that is, the first four years, will continue. The Agnipath scheme has not been discontinued. It will continue. Secondly, this second engagement period of two years gives those Agniveers who have not been selected in the first four years a chance to serve longer. Their relative experience, qualifications and skills are relative. It's not that they are bad; it's relative. So, in these two years, they get a chance to serve longer in the Army, with the provision that they can be enrolled as regular soldiers. So this is a win-win situation for both..."

This is so good. Democrats who can speak.
.@JamesTalarico: We didn’t win by alienating our neighbors, or by shaming our neighbors, or by ridiculing our neighbors. We embodied a new kind of politics. A politics rooted in a deep love — for our state, for our country, and for all of our neighbors. My faith teaches me that love is the strongest force in the universe. Love is not passive. Love is not neutral. Love is not weak. Love requires that we stand between the bullies and the bullied. Love requires that we look evil in the eye and not blink. Love can heal what’s broken in America.

From the start the scheme was not a good idea. Glad it's getting rolled back. Hope to see old recruitment system back in place. The scheme has been detrimental to the fighting ethos and unit level cohesion. Glad to have stood up and repeatedly spoke on the sheer foolishness of the scheme.
#WATCH | Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani says, "Today is a very significant day for the Indian Defence Forces and for our 'Agniveers'. The Cabinet has created a pathway for all Agniveers to be absorbed into the Indian Defence Forces. As you are aware, the 'Agnipath' scheme was introduced on June 14, 2022. At that time, it was stated that there would be continuous performance evaluation of the Agniveers and that the scheme would be reviewed periodically. The first batch of Agniveers is now nearing the completion of their four-year tenure. Based on the performance evaluations conducted over these four years, we have received very positive feedback regarding their performance. As you know, 25% of the Agniveers are to be enrolled into the regular forces based on merit. Previously, the provision was for 75% of the Agniveers to transition back into society as disciplined and motivated youth. However, under this updated scheme, the remaining 75% of Agniveers will now be offered an additional engagement period of two years. Upon the completion of this two-year period, all those who are willing will be enrolled into the Armed Forces, subject to objective selection criteria. These are the four major aspects of this scheme."

First they needlessly bring in the Agnipath scheme with a four year service period and a 25% retention cap. Then when the discharge of the first lot is about to happen, they say they may retain more of them or allow a service extension. Not just the Agniveers, their commanding officers would also be tearing their hair out in frustration. A stupid scheme conceived by stupid people. We are needlessly facing the same problems faced by conscript armies - who's enlistment to be terminated, who's to be renewed and so on. Take one of the world's finest armies and attack the very core of its existence - unit cohesion. Even the Pakistanis, in their wildest dreams would not have imagined this nonsense we have willingly adopted.

Indians have a strange understanding of nationalism. They seem more concerned about protecting Adani’s rights than protecting their own economic future. When did defending a billionaire become more patriotic than defending the interests of 1.4 billion Indians? That’s not nationalism. That’s misplaced loyalty.

So Delhi T3 has this new full body scanning equipment at security checking, apparently it cant scan through your shoes , so for all passengers shoes must come off. How convenient, isnt it ? Mind you at all international airports such scanners doesn’t require shoes to be taken off. Just the typical low-trust society stuff. Take out your lap top , your chargers and now shoes as well.

It felt good to listen to @sardesairajdeep at @JindalGlobalUNI this afternoon. His frank approach to the good and bad of journalism and his strong message of hope for the youth will resonate. He also answered the students' questions candidly & with a dose of nostalgia & humour.

Is the Police HQ a designated Protest location? Did they take a written permission for protest? When are they booking Ramleela maidan.
ACP Manasvi Vashishta has emerged as a hero for many disgruntled police officers. For 3 hours, they gathered outside the police HQ this morning demanding resolution for their grudges. Following a clash with lawyers in Shahddara, ACP Manasvi and SHO Arun Kumar were transferred.

Two days of continuous rain in Delhi made me realise something about our pollution problem. While it was raining, the air felt remarkably clean. I could breathe comfortably. But within a short time of the rain stopping, especially at night, I could feel the pollution returning with every breath. Even with trees and greenery around, that familiar heaviness in the air was back. And this is why I find it difficult to accept the constant blame placed on farmers for Delhi's pollution. Stubble burning certainly contributes. But I suspect its share is closer to 10–15%, while a much larger portion, perhaps 70–80%, comes from within Delhi-NCR itself. What struck me was how quickly the pollution returned. Delhi itself has very little farmland, and I find it difficult to believe that distant farm fires alone explain such a rapid change in air quality. To me, this points towards a much bigger local pollution problem. One thing I've noticed repeatedly is the amount of loose dust along our roads and footpaths. So many stretches have exposed soil and hardly any greenery. Every passing vehicle sends that dust into the air, where it mixes with exhaust fumes and other pollutants. Rain settles this dust temporarily. Once the roads dry, the same cycle begins again. We talk so much about vehicle emissions, but hardly anyone discusses the dust those very vehicles keep throwing back into the air. I believe this is one area where Delhi could make a real difference. Cover the exposed soil, develop green strips along roads, maintain footpaths properly and stop leaving bare, dusty patches everywhere. It sounds simple, but imagine the impact if this were done properly across Delhi-NCR. It wouldn't eliminate every source of pollution, but I strongly believe it could reduce a significant part of the problem.

Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran. The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program. No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place. The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. “Bibi calls Trump about it every day,” says an informed observer. Netanyahu is cornered and desperate. After last week’s election results, he can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics and brokers a deal with other parties that gives Netanyahu 61 seats in the Knesset. Otherwise, he is out as prime minister and on his way to ignominy, investigations and possibly jail. Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war. To that end, he’s applied maximum pressure to his closest allies in the administration, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper. Both oppose a negotiated settlement to the war they’ve so grievously mismanaged; both are pushing to restart major combat operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe are also following Netanyahu’s lead, as are leaders of the Democratic Party. In a recent meeting on the subject, former president Barack Obama said he opposes the current Iran peace deal being drafted in Doha. The rest of America’s longtime allies in the Middle East are terrified by the prospect of more war. On September 27th, Netanyahu flew secretly to Abu Dhabi to enlist the UAE in his lobbying effort for a final attack on Iran. The Emiratis refused. After eight months of conflict, Gulf economies are teetering. So are global energy and fertilizer markets. They won’t recover soon. Globally, there are a total of about 850 supertankers used to transport oil from producers to the rest of the world. In October alone, 11 of them were badly damaged in Hormuz. At this pace, a global depression is imminent. A nuclear strike would radically accelerate the destruction. Fallout from a ground explosion at Pickax Mountain would contaminate the Persian Gulf, poisoning the water supply for 100 million people. And those are just some of the immediate consequences for the region. The rest of the world is every bit as exposed. No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war. Some would like to. An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent. The Russians have already told at least two other governments that an American nuclear strike on Iran would free them to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Pakistan and India would be tempted to do the same against each other, as would North Korea against Seoul. After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final. We’ve been sleepwalking toward this moment for months. Since February, the administration has quietly rewritten America’s nuclear doctrine to make first use of so-called “battlefield nukes” easier and therefore more likely. No one in Washington in either party seems bothered by this. Now we’re on the brink of it. Close observers say Trump is likely to decide by next weekend whether or not to use nuclear weapons. That would be November 7, six days from now. To his credit, he’s hesitating. At the moment, Trump is listening to his vice president, JD Vance, and to his envoy and friend Steve Witkoff, both of whom argue a deal with Iran can be made. They’re right, though it won’t be simple. The Iranians are famously frustrating to negotiate with under any circumstances, and elements of that government have become more radical since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family were killed in February. After decades of isolation, even relatively moderate Iranian leaders seem confused by how decisions are made in the West. (There is a widespread belief in Tehran, for example, that the United States government controls Israel.) But overall, people who have spoken to decision-makers in Iran say there is consensus there that more war is bad for everyone and a deal is worth making. One group that hasn’t been consulted so far is the global population — the hundreds of millions of people who will be killed along with their children if Trump is pushed by Netanyahu into launching a nuclear strike next week. Now would be the time for them to speak up.
