The actual fear is not nuclear weapons or trade imbalances or military bases or any of the specific threats named in the foreign policy papers.
The actual fear is a world that functions without them at the center.
A world with Asian development banks, African trade agreements, Latin American regional institutions, Global South coalitions that don’t require Western approval to legitimize them.
Not an anti-Western world. Not a world that hates the West or seeks to harm it.
Just a world that has other options.
A world in which the West is one pole among several, one set of values among several worth considering, one history among many worth knowing.
A normal world, in other words.
The world as it actually was before two centuries of enforced hierarchy, and as it is slowly, stubbornly, irreversibly becoming again.
That world frightens them more than any weapon.
Because weapons can be matched.
Irrelevance cannot.

A major investigation has uncovered an Israel-linked, three-year disinformation operation designed to spread Islamophobia, anti-migrant hatred and far-right conspiracy theories across more than 30 countries.
The operation spent £6.12 million generating 800 million advertising exposures across social media platforms.
The UK was among the worst-affected countries, with 154.1 million exposures, followed by France (120.6 million), the US (99.7 million), Italy (76.2 million) and Germany (34.3 million).
These campaigns include claiming that there's an Islamic invasion and Muslim countries are buying European buildings and converting them into mosques.
In the UK, 61% of comments sampled on targeted Facebook adverts expressed support for Islamophobic views.
Think about that. Millions spent deliberately exploiting prejudice, spreading conspiracy theories and turning Muslims into scapegoats and to dehumanise them.
The Nazi regime also ran a massive, state-sponsored propaganda and disinformation campaign.

George Madgwick, the Reform UK leader on Hampshire County Council and a councillor on Portsmouth City Council, has been charged by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) with 35 criminal offences.
Announced on November 3, 2026, the charges include 12 counts of rape, 8 counts of actual bodily harm (ABH), multiple sexual and child-related offences, threats to kill, false imprisonment, stalking, criminal damage, and theft.
Case Details
• Alleged Victims and Timeline: The charges stem from an investigation launched in July 2025 by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary involving four complainants who were aged 16 and 17 at the time.
The incidents occurred between 2008 and 2021 in Portsmouth and Wales, following Madgwick's initial arrest in January 2026.
• Party Response: Reform UK immediately suspended Madgwick, and he resigned as leader of the party's group on Hampshire County Council, though he continues to sit as an independent councillor.

21 years ago, British journalist Tom Hurndall died after spending 9 months in a coma.
Tom was carrying a Palestinian child out of range of Israeli army gunfire when he was shot in the head.
