"Only dictatorships don't allow people to change their minds - in a democracy no decision is irreversible": Viscount Hailsham
Think that's bad? You want to have heard the mad nonsense from Sturgeon about saving the date and get ready for independence.....all whilst her husband was fleecing @theSNP members and showering her with gifts.
I was looking at this picture and wondering, are those metal pens safe? What about crowd surge for the people at the front of these pens?
Does anyone know?
๐ค I never knew any of them, so none "hit hard"
๐ค I was, however, sad when Bon Scott died because I had only seen him live for the first time at the Glasgow Apollo a few months earlier.
Which musicianโs death in your lifetime hit you the hardest?

Reform will be dead soon, what party will he scramble to after that?
Thomas Kerr has been nominated in the One to Watch (sponsored by ScottishPower) category for The Herald's Scottish Politician of the Year 2026 Awards.

It would take approximately 25 years to fully extract the recoverable oil from the Rosebank field alone.
So, jog on with this bollocks
Without going into how spending is allocated and validity of figures.
Population sparsity and economies of scale for procurement of goods and services.
It will probably level itself out given time owing to the Barnett Squeeze.

Most people didn't read the White Paper in 2014, the politicians danced on the heads of pins over every detail and some just set out to confuse.
A dozen bullet points outlining the basics would suffice. Along with credible guarantees to deliver them.
She more than played her part in ensuring that continued throughout her residency in office.
Handed independence on a plate and did the square root of nothing to achieve it, however, found the time to totally sabotage it.
Stay in London Nicola, you deserve each other!
Oh I cannot wait for the replies to this one.
On one hand we have the UK Government telling us how Scotland will save the economy, the next you have frothing, rabid, house Jocks telling us how idiotic and incompetent, how small, how poor, how utterly useless the country is ๐คฃ

Endless streams of English MPs and English commentators, talking about Scotlands resources. The very same ppl whoโve been relentlessly telling us that Scotland is too poor to be independent, for years.

In 1707, Scotland was not united in a "voluntary union". It was annexed, and the whole of Europe documented it at the time. Four sovereign states went on recognising a King of Scots straight through the date the Scottish Crown was supposedly extinguished. Within two years, London had to buy its own legitimacy abroad, mortgaging fortresses in the Spanish Netherlands to the Dutch for a guarantee of a succession it could not secure at home; Swift's word for it was that "every petty prince in Germany must be entreated to preserve the queen of Great Britain upon her throne."
Six years in, recognition had to be extorted from France and Spain at Utrecht as the price of ending a war, in a settlement Scotland was never party to. France put 5,000 troops and a fleet to sea in 1708 to reverse it. Spanish regular infantry fought at Glen Shiel in 1719, and the 274 who surrendered were taken as prisoners of war of a foreign crown; not as rebels, because Madrid had never accepted that the kingdom they came to restore had ceased to exist.
France treated with Scotland as a sovereign party again in 1745.
Rome/the Holy See recognised a King of Scots until 1766.
Europe's standard history of the new state, printed at The Hague in 1724, was titled Histoire d'Angleterre: the History of England.
A union nobody on the continent could see. An annexation everybody recorded.
In international law, recognition is the test of annexation. 1707 failed that test in its own century. Which is why Scotland's claim is not secession. It is state resumption.
All of Europe Knew About Scotlandโs Annexation and that 1707 Was No Voluntary Union. European states documented Scotlandโs annexation by the English colonial state. The diplomatic evidence is overwhelming.
