A safe, clean, competitive city that welcomes businesses and makes it easy to get things done gives people concrete reasons to choose a city, writes Allan Domb.

A new apartment building proposed for South Broad Street is shorter, and smaller, than might be expected (the property is within walking distance of two subway stops). It also has one parking spot for every two apartments: inquirer.com/real-estate/hou…

🚨ATTENTION!🚨One of my FAVORITE events of all time is back in Philadelphia TOMORROW NIGHT as Illuminate Philly takes over Passyunk Ave for a night of Projection Art featuring over 20 artists and 5 different shows through the streets of South Philadelphia
If you ever go to ANY event I post about, make it this one. It’s seriously such a cool event that people of all ages will absolutely love
Thank you Illuminate Philly for such a fantastic program last night on East Passyunk. What an incredible way to bring out so many people to the street!

When you prioritize people over cars, beautiful things can happen!
Response to the new streetscape from Greektown visitors has been overwhelmingly positive. Every business along Block 500 expressed an interest in keeping it vehicle-free permanently.

It’s very important when doing this type of planning we stand in the financial truth of the connection between housing development and a market that can sustain these retail uses.
This is why Act 135 exists to address these dangerous properties. It costs the city nothing.
The City needs to more aggressively address blighted abandoned property – especially buildings deemed imminently dangerous.
I will keep working to cut red tape and give L&I and the Law Department the resources they need to respond quickly and effectively.
I want to shout out One PA West/Southwest Rising, which has been working on this for years now. I'm proud to be your partner in this work!
The Greektown Project is an incredible people-centered success story! Would love to add Passyunk Ave to this club someday!

This money would have been better spent improving Downtown Canton. Tourist attractions and vibrant Main Streets can complement each other extremely well, and Gettysburg is a great example. By contrast, adding more retail was a poor investment. nytimes.com/2026/08/08/busin…

I completely agree. A lot of American downtowns and parks have ben saved by BIDs. Quite possibly the most successful US urban governance innovation of the second half of the twentieth century, yet most people don't even know they exist.
