People are too focused on the GOP's (very real) weaknesses this cycle. Less attention is being paid to the how well the Democrats played it. They eschewed woke identity politics in favor of economic populism – and it worked. GOP must recalibrate its rhetoric ahead of 28.
This contentious interchange between the NY Times and @GinaHinojosaTX was truly amazing. Hinojosa offered one of the best explanations of populism I've ever seen. Her comments were a total rejection of Corporate Dems' neoliberal formula. Her Texas victory is a game changer.

Neither libs nor chuds have the strength to face how stupid the median voter is. They create these elaborate justifications for electoral outcomes based on meaningless issue polling and pure fantasy. If you want to understand politics imagine your IQ being 20 points lower

In case people aren’t familiar with this image, the Islamic Revolution in Iran was initially a joint collaboration between the Islamists and the Marxists. In fact, the Marxist faction was both the leading cultural force amongst the educated as well as the militant grunt troops in the decade preceding the revolution. As the Shah’s forces attempted to crackdown on the communist uprising, Jimmy Carter put heavy pressure on the him for human rights violations, and began normalizing relations with Ayatollah Khomeini. The high numbers of mosques, clergy, and religious peasants provided the structural and physical power to eventually otherthrow the Shah. Then the Islamic Regime executed all the Marxists. Mamdani is not an Islamist, he’s a Marxist. El-Sayed is an Islamist. This is not to say that Islam is the true threat in America and communism is just a red herring. At the end of the day either would mean the end of America. We are nothing demographically like Iran. The left will use whatever they have: third worldism, racial grievance, LGBT, class resentment, Islam (hey it’s almost like it’s some kind of gay race communism) in their anti-American, anti-Western, anti-White, anti-Christian, anti-Jewish (regardless of whether you care or not), anti-technological advancement, anti-excellence cause.
People are either liars or idiots, shown in this image (Mamdani is the girls holding the poster btw)

Those on the Right celebrating MAGA’s defeat now have to build a viable coalition & path to power Unlike them, I’m not rooting for the Right’s failure. I understand the consequences. But what’s the plan? The Left sees this Blue Tsunami as a generational mandate & will act accordingly. The Right now has fewer allies, less leverage, & less institutional power. Those on the “Right” celebrating loudest helped make it happen turning a wave int tsunami. Trump activated millions who otherwise wouldn’t vote. How many disappear with him? Was 2016-2024 the birth of a lasting movement or a historical blip before the Socialist States of America? Even Elon Musk appears to be retreating from politics. The momentum needed to convince elites to back RW ideas may be dead. And who could blame them? These factions couldn’t even be gracious in victory. Alex Jones is screaming about invoking the 25th Amendment. Others push lies calling former allies pedophiles & murderers while openly rooting for their imprisonment/execution. Some of these people would be rotting in prison without Trump’s pardon. No loyalty. No discipline. No strategy. Just schizos who destroy everything they touch & incapable of building anything beyond a shitty podcast. Trump was a once-in-a-century transformative political figure: billionaire, universal name recognition, marketing genius, elite ties, & tens of millions of loyal voters. What little influence MAGA gained for the Right may now evaporate. It wasn’t everything the Right wanted. Not even close. But it was something. Trump bears responsibility too. He underestimated the economic pain Americans have endured since COVID, compounded by the conflicts in Iran & Ukraine. Congress utterly failed in its duties. But the “right” wing factions celebrating helped turn a wave into a tsunami. Now they get to live in the ruins. And here’s the funniest part. If internet censorship returns, many of these people have NOTHING. Their entire political existence depends on X, Twitch, Instagram, & YouTube. They’re celebrating the collapse of the only coalition that gave them leverage while begging for access to the same Leftist-run platforms tha still ban them. These are your RW revolutionary leaders? You hate Palantir? Fine. Palantir loses influence. How exactly does my life improve under a Leftist surveillance state powered by Claude AI instead? If mass surveillance is inevitable, I’d rather retain SOME influence over those controlling it than surrender everything to political enemies openly fantasizing about my destruction. That’s common sense. For the first time in generations, Trump actually moved the ball downfield on issues important to the American nation & its people. Not perfectly. Not nearly far enough. But Trump/MAGA moved the ball. Who replaces Trump? These factions couldn’t win a GOP primary. Now they’re going to win a general election? Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, and the “real Right” are supposedly assembling an unstoppable national coalition? You couldn’t unite the Right when Trump was WINNING. Now you’ll do it after helping the Left regain power? With what money? Which elites? What institutions? What voters? No governing coalition. No institutional infrastructure. No credible replacement for Trump. And enemies more emboldened than ever. As to Midterms. The Left won. Trump lost. But the loudest factions celebrating on the Right may ultimately be the biggest losers. You traded political access for internet applause. Burned bridges with allies while your enemies consolidated power. And now you’re standing in the ashes celebrating. Everyone has ideals. Who can actually advance them—or even hold the line when the onslaught comes? What’s the best achievable outcome based on reality not fantasy? Trump had a coalition. You have a podcast. Good luck with everything. Everyone else, prepare accordingly.

Consult any public indicator or medium for why we, Our Democracy, would shift immediately from milquetoast nationalism to drag queen maoism and pout "i told you i was gonna" Gas SKYROCKETED to something like $4.50 instead of $4.10. We're in an EXISTENTIAL war which has killed a grand total of 23 Americans. The corrupt elites are covering up for their friends who EAT CHILDREN. I CANT BUY EGGS!!!!!! Not a single one of these things have any bearing on the success and wellbeing of the citizenry but they are going to be litigated to death by Super Serious pundits for the next 2 years until the next disastrous bipolar changeover happens, and we just keep doing this until something finally snaps. The entire political economy now is entertainment-via-hysteria and has been this way since covid completely and irrevocably raped an entire generation with this novel drug. It is completely insufferable; and yet the strongest empire in human history now runs on it
I have little respect for people who see a place 10% reporting and immediately troon out. I have nothing but contempt for those who weave hysteria into a form of entertainment Even if proven true in hindsight, it is actually this behavior which explains results not vice versa

My only shred of hope to offer tonight: the left got wiped out this bad in the midterms multiple times and kept marching right through the institutions. So must we.

Goyim genuinely don’t deserve to vote I cannot express the contempt and disdain I have for the UTTER RETARDS who were actually sufficiently stupid to fall for the democrat bullshit. How mouth breathing of a retard do you have to be to think muh hekin datacenterinos o algo. I loath that I have to share a planet let alone a country with these dysgenic subhuman retards. And my disdain for anyone who betrayed the GOP is 100x that I’m also kinda pissed I lost 500 bucks

If we manage to win this, the libs will be demoralized worse than 2024, but that will only happen if you—yes, YOU, the anon reading this—go out today and VOTE! Straight red ticket.

It’s way too early, but turnout at my precinct was identical at this same point in 2024, a presidential election year. And I live in a ruby-red district in Minnesota. We can win, if we vote. Save Minnesota!

I am a moderate Democrat. I can’t believe what’s happened to my party. My wife left me and took the kids to live with her family in the Philippines. This election, I am proud to vote “hard R” Republican for the first time ever. Country over party 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Their vote counts the same as yours. It’s over. The world you grew up in no longer exists. Nuke everything. Nuke everyone. China and NK won. New game.
At peak QAnon hysteria, roughly 4% of poll respondents believed it. You can get 4% of the population to believe almost anything. In a YouGov poll earlier this year, 48%(!) believed “Many politicians are involved in child sex-trafficking rings.” Total epistemic collapse.

Modern content algorithms make people so delusional. "The republicans are going to win midterms because I'm spamming ai-generated images of Anakin Skywalker as an ascended fascist white male warrior and getting served similar images."
This is not a meme anymore. It never was. We successfully saved Anakin, and possibly Star Wars itself. This is a monumental zeitgeist victory the likes we’ve not yet seen. Your posting matters. Our posting matters. Never stop. Protect our hero’s. Protect our myths. We will WIN!

The Anakin Skywalker memes were funny for ten or fifteen minutes, but now we've entered the inevitable phase where people treat them, in all earnestness, as some profound statement about right-wing politics, boomer betrayal blah blah blah. So embarrassing.

Podcasters benefit from losing. You have to remember that especially on the right, there is much more to be gained by being an outsider critiquing someone and then doing nothing than someone who has to make decisions.
