As part of the Government’s continued implementation of economic diplomacy, the Director of the Department of Europe and the Americas at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ms. Ellen Maduhu, visited the Biotan Cashew Processing Factory in Kisemvule, Mkuranga District, Coast Region, on November 6, 2026, to assess the investment’s contribution to adding value to agricultural produce in Tanzania. Speaking during the visit, Ms. Maduhu reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to creating a favorable and enabling environment for both local and foreign investors. She noted that these efforts aim to promote investment in the agricultural sector, enhance the value of locally produced commodities, expand access to international markets, create employment opportunities, and increase national income. For his part, the factory director and Austrian investor, Mr. Paul S. Schreilechner, commended Tanzania for producing exceptionally high-quality cashew nuts. He noted that the superior quality of Tanzanian cashews is among the key factors driving their strong demand and competitiveness in international markets. Established in 2018, Biotan specializes in sourcing, processing, and packaging organic cashew nuts in accordance with international standards. Through this investment, value-added cashew products are exported to European markets, particularly Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. The factory also contributes to job creation for Tanzanians.
