In that family line there were no slave owners or black slave. My other ancestor 9th g grandfather, his wife & kids the original settlers of North Yarmouth, Maine were forced to flee to Jewels Island during King Philips War. They were raided at Jewels Island too. He didn't survive the raid. His wife & kids did.
One of my ancestors was a Scottish soldier prisoner from the Battle of Dunbar forced here arrived in Boston on the Unity in 1650 was forced into hard labor bought & sold to work the Saugus Iron Works & Sawmills for 7 yrs. Then he was freed.

My 3x great grandparent name was Eliza Jane ( like on Little House on the Prairie) her grandfather was in Revolutionary War & founded a town in Maine. Her mother's family was from Cape Elizabeth & go back to early Cape Cod colonial settlers.

Ancestors survived the harsh early frontier, Native American conflicts including the famous Oyster River Plantation Raid of 1694. Anglo- Norman English, Swedish. Fought in major wars too.
