The Election Is Over. Our Work Is Not.
Yesterday was a tough day for Republicans across Wisconsin. While the statewide results weren't what we had hoped for, it's important to put this election into perspective.
Historically, midterm elections have been difficult for the party holding the White House. Since 1938, the president's party has lost seats in the U.S. House in 20 of the 22 midterm elections through 2022. This is not unique to Republicans or Democrats. It's a historical pattern that both parties have experienced. That doesn't make losing any easier, but it does remind us that one election does not determine our future.
According to the unofficial November 3 election results, here's how our candidates performed within Calumet County:
- Tom Tiffany (Governor): 56.9%
- Eric Toney (Attorney General): 56.2%
- Tony Wied (Congress): 55.7%
- Glenn Grothman (Congress): 64.1%
- Nic Cravillion (State Senate): 57.1%
- Amy Binsfeld (State Senate): 64.7%
- Ron Tusler (State Assembly): 57.5%
- Lindee Brill retained her Assembly District 27 seat!
- Brett Bowe (Calumet County Sheriff): 61.2%
Calumet County also voted YES on all three constitutional amendments!
- Question 1 — Partial Veto Limits: 59.2% YES
- Question 2 — Protecting Places of Worship: 56.9% YES
- Question 3 — Government Discrimination and Preferential Treatment: 63.6% YES
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered, knocked doors, made calls, sent texts, donated, displayed signs, and voted. I also want to recognize Tom Tiffany and his campaign team for their tremendous effort and dedication.
As we look at the statewide results, we absolutely need to evaluate what worked, where we fell short, and how we can improve. Those conversations are important and necessary, but we also need to remember that we accomplish far more when we work together than when we turn on one another.
Now is not the time for finger-pointing, blame or division. It's time to learn from this election, maintain unity and move forward together.
I sincerely hope our newly elected leaders govern responsibly and that Wisconsin families prosper. We have a responsibility to hold elected officials accountable for their decisions and results, not just their campaign promises.
One election does not determine our future, we have plenty of work left to do!
God bless you all and God bless Wisconsin!

Wisconsin, it's up to you tomorrow.
David Crowley will raise taxes. I won't.
David Crowley will turn Wisconsin into a data center hub. I won't.
David Crowley will allow men to play in girls' sports. I won't.
David Crowley will create a sanctuary state for illegals. I won't.

I will be voting YES on all 3 referendum questions tomorrow because:
1. The Governor should NOT have the sole authority to raise taxes by crossing out certain words or letters.
2. The government should NOT be able to close churches when they see fit.
3. The state should NOT use race, religion, or sexual identity in judging who to hire.
Common sense says vote YES on all 3.
