Younger voters are extremely concerned about data privacy and surveillance. They're also far more tech-savvy than most of the political class and they understand that "age verification" - is "papers please" to access the digital world. They understand that ID verification does not protect children online. They have watched as red states and the republicans in Congress have worked fast and furious to implement this de facto digital ID through legislation or litigation. This is uniparty, Big Government, surveillance of citizens and outside of the astroturfed coalitions, nobody actually wants this!!

The App Store Accountability Act is being rebranded as the "App Store Child Protection Act" - it has a new name and a new figurehead, Corinne Johnson who is affiliated with various groups in Utah. This article from Forbes is spot- on: "Good parental outcomes quite simply cannot be legislated." The proponents of this policy are selling the App Store bill as "child safety" and "putting parents back in the driver's seat"...as if parents are helpless to set boundaries and protect their kids online. "legislators and the laws they write aren’t worthy substitutes for parents. That’s precisely why legislation like this can be so dangerous." If you truly do not "coparent with the government" then you need to oppose these government mandates that set up a digital ID and surveillance framework for ALL users.
