The cancellation of the northern part of HS2 leaves us with an utterly pointless track from the outskirts of London to Birmingham. The destruction of our countryside, the years of disruption to Kenilworth & Southam and beyond, and the billions spent for no discernible purpose.

48 years ago today in 1973, at 4 minutes past midnight, I was born just as we joined the EEC. Local papers celebrated this child of Pakistani heritage as Birmingham’s first ‘Eurobaby’. After a full lifetime of being European, I am heartbroken at where we have arrived tonight 🇪🇺🇪🇺
