Thesis: “Big Baseball” wanted a Michael Jordan or a Larry Bird all the way from when those were the big stars of basketball. But the Brewers remind us that baseball is inevitably and irrevocably a team sport.

If you don’t like this year’s World Series, don’t watch it. Fact is that it’s been great baseball.

We know about so many heroes of the faith, but we have forgotten many too. Let me tell you about some of them.
One of the frustrations of studying Baptist history is discovering books that have been out of print for decades, sometimes more than a century. Many are available as old scanned PDFs, but they can be difficult to read, poorly formatted, and nearly impossible to use on a Kindle or other device.
So I've started bringing some of these books back to life.
I've taken original public domain Baptist books, cleaned up the text, corrected scanning errors, and reformatted them into readable modern editions. My goal is to make important works of Baptist history, missions, biography, and theology more accessible to today's readers.
The collection includes books about early Baptist missionaries such as Lott Cary, Henrietta Shuck, and Luther Rice; Baptist history in Louisiana and the American South; and classic works by Charles Spurgeon, John Bunyan, and others.
I've called the project "The Baptist Book Shelf."
There are currently 20 books in the collection, with more on the way. Two are available as free PDF downloads, and the others are available at a modest price. Several are also available in Kindle and paperback editions on Amazon. I can only add two books a week on Amazon, but have almost 30 ready to go live as soon as I can. No matter what format you need, you can find it.
This has been a labor of love. I enjoy Baptist history, and I believe these books deserve to be read rather than forgotten.
I'd invite you to take a look, download one of the free books, and browse the collection. And if you know someone who enjoys Baptist history, I'd appreciate you sharing it with them.

If you don’t love the brand of baseball being played in the World Series, then you just don’t love baseball. #WorldSeries
I think it's beautiful that you can become a pastor of a Southern Baptist church without having completed the eighth grade—all pastoral education is voluntarily obtained—and yet the largest theological seminaries in the US are Southern Baptist.
The voter's conscience is free to do what the law is not free to do. I agree with the point that Andrew is making here.
I'm a Baptist for whom religious liberty matters greatly. But does supporting religious liberty mean voters cannot take a candidate's religious worldview into account when deciding whether to vote for them? No. With Islam's growing influence, I have a new column at @realDailyWire that helps clarify how religion factors into whether a candidate is fit to serve. dailywire.com/news/the-polit…

In the Bible, whenever people encounter an angel, that angel is embodied; whenever people encounter an evil spirit (exception: Satan in the temptation of Jesus), that demon is disembodied. I'm not entirely sure of the significance; I just realized this when teaching last week.
1. It makes me even less likely to adopt a theory of the "sons of God" and the "Nephilim" in Genesis 6 that features the notion of embodied fallen angels procreating with human women to produce superhuman offspring. That one occasion would be quite the outlier.
