As the Bay Area is getting much needed rain, we need to start getting ready for more blackouts this summer - local solar and batteries has already helped, and can do so much more!
In today’s @latimes, my story about power generation getting smaller and nimbler, plus criticism that Gov. Newsom isn’t doing enough to clean up the grid far more quickly: latimes.com/business/story/2…
OBAMA: The president wasn't even mad. About The Saddam Hussein comparison. That part didn't bother him. But he was very upset about The Cheesecake Factory. He took great umbrage. He said I didn't understand the work of the artisans in the White House.
They mobilized a whole of government response to that joke. Not to inflation, but to that joke.
In what world is “hundreds of thousands” not “350,000 to 580,000”?
This has always been the problem with “fact checking” — it is simply not equipped, nor did it adapt, to a post 2016 world.
Rallying in Cleveland for Democratic candidates, Barack Obama said Jon Husted "voted to kick hundreds of thousands of Ohioans off Medicaid."
This is largely accurate. PolitiFact previously fact-checked an ad by Brown that said Husted voted “to kick 490,000 Ohioans off their healthcare,” rating it Half True. Obama’s version was less specific and therefore more accurate.
The health care think tank KFF has estimated that 350,000 to 580,000 Ohioans could lose coverage. A more recent study by RAND found results broadly in line with KFF. buff.ly/LwkU5Db
And here’s what the pro, @Lamarquephotog got, as seen in NYT

if you follow this world closely this explanation makes enough sense. but it's gonna be a tough sell and piss off a lot of normal people to hear some version of 'we tried to warn you but also we just kept building it too...what did you expect us to do...stop?'

During California's intense heat wave earlier this month, home batteries delivered 745 MW of average power to the state’s grid for several hours, setting a new record for the largest residential distributed power plant dispatch in U.S. history.
On back-to-back nights, Sunrun and Tesla answered the call from the CA Energy Commission to support the grid and put downward pressure on energy prices. In addition to strengthening grid reliability, Sunrun also puts money back in the pockets of households that share their energy with the grid.
Sunrun CEO Mary Powell said, "These record-setting events prove that the energy infrastructure already installed in people’s homes can deliver power at a scale that makes a real difference for the grid.”

Would the A’s still be in Oakland if this call had been correctly overturned?
“ONE OF THE MOST UNBELIEVABLE PLAYS YOU WILL EVER SEE BY A SHORTSTOP!”
OTD 25 years ago, Derek Jeter came out of nowhere to cut off a throw from the outfield and nail the runner trying to score. The @Yankees, who were facing elimination, held on to win the game 1-0, then won the next two games to capture the series, and “The Flip” became one of the most legendary moments of The Captain’s career.

Did you know that in NYC, people can’t install stationary residential batteries at their homes? Even in the less dense outer boroughs.
We should have more EVs of every size and scale, but NYC also needs resi batteries
