He got it out because he presumed he would never have the chance to otherwise (and he was right) once he left. Mydei is very closed off emotionally, he's honest in the way that he doesn't lie and prefers to choose silence but he isn't emotionally open.

OP saying this is silly but this honestly pretty close to canon and it fucks me up really bad emotionally... I don't even mean that in a "oh they don't love each other" kinda way but in the "they never had room to actually make each other a priority" while the FC was ongoing
