“These problems are enormous. But the consolation is that the opportunities for solving them are there. And they are exciting and challenging.” — Lateef Jakande
13 school kidnappings in 3 years of @officialABAT’s misgovernance.
The crux of a president and commander-in-chief is to secure its borders and citizens, and he has failed woefully at it.
We’ll vote him out in January.

Last night there was an attack in Rahusa Estate, Millenium City, where bandits went away with more than four people.
These banditry attacks have become a daily routine in Kaduna state, as if there’s no one in charge of the state’s affairs.
May God Almighty give us leaders that truly care about the lives and properties of its people.

Bruh! They’re killing people for fun in Bokkos, Mangu, Barkin Ladi and Riyom LGA’s. The hospital is filled up, it’s not even making the news anymore, it’s gradually becoming a norm… It’s just shocking how we got here, Kai!
My Visit to the Nigerian Air Force Facility
Further to my message yesterday, I visited the Nigerian Air Force facility in Abuja today to formally sign the condolence register following the unfortunate aircraft crash.
The visit gave me another opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made daily by the men and women of our Armed Forces and other security agencies in the line of duty. These courageous Nigerians put their lives on the line to defend our nation and protect our people. We must never take their service and sacrifice for granted.
I extend my deepest condolences to the Nigerian Air Force and to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of those who lost their lives.
May God grant eternal rest to the departed and give their families the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss.
May God continue to protect all those who serve our country. -PO

I just got the VIDEO!
This is Ayo Adio @iamayolawal on his second visit to the community.
You can hear him lamenting over the situation while assuring the people that he’d fight for the electricity to be restored.
APC needs to be el!minated from Nigeria’s political space forever!💔✍️
I just heard a story that almost made me m@d!💔
Ayo Adio, the ADC Candidate for the Eti-Osa House of Assembly Constituency, visited a community in his constituency to interact with the residents and sell his programmes. But he discovered that they hadn't had light for several months and were struggling to survive in darkness.
He swore to them that he'd resolve the electricity issue by clearing their outstanding bills. The following week, he visited NEPA with the community leaders. He paid off the outstanding debt and brought NEPA officials to reconnect the light.
As the electricity was restored, the community lit up in frenzied joy and jubilation. Word got to the APC representatives in the constituency. The following week, they ordered NEPA to disconnect the light.
As I type, the community is thrown back into darkness - helpless and hopeless. I can’t express how sad and utterly disgusted I feel right now!✍️

Botswana’s economy grew by 8.7% in the second quarter of 2026, with mining, particularly diamonds, driving much of this recovery. This is encouraging, and I want to recognise the continued efforts across our diamond industry to rebuild demand, market natural diamonds....

Talking to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria about the surprising resilience of world trade but noting the need for reform of the system to safeguard that resilience whilst improving on delivery of results, inclusion and ultimately robustness to a fast changing world of technology and geopolitics.
We have bigger problems in the next few years, especially in the Niger Delta.
Buckle in, everyone.
More dealmaking without thinking about the second order effects and the dastardly consequences in the near future.

The Nigerian government has reportedly entered a secret ceasefire agreement with the Boko Haram faction led by Bakura Doro, according to a report by The New Humanitarian cited by PREMIUM TIMES.
Three people with contacts among senior Boko Haram members said the truce had been in effect since June and was expected to be extended.
The agreement was reportedly linked to efforts to secure the release of more than 300 civilians abducted in March from Ngoshe, a community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Every time I watch Crazy Kennar’s skits, I am intrigued by the number of high-rise residential buildings that dots Nairobi, especially when he shoots in the suburbs.
Significantly more than Lagos and Abuja.
Vertical densification has to be our approach moving forward.
Egypt temporarily took the burden off their electricity consumers, added 14,400 megawatts to their grid and spent at least $1.5 billion on additional transmission capacity bandwidth to handle the new grid supply threshold before they commenced phasing out the subsidies.
Lessons.

Public transit is subsidized in virtually every city that has one on the planet because it has positive externalities like reduced congestion, lower traffic deaths, higher economic productivity.
Subsidizing public transit isn't bad.
*Why is the subway SO cheap in China’s big cities?*
Government subsidies.
Shanghai Metro lost an average of 2.5 yuan per passenger trip in 2017, and 5 yuan per trip in 2025.
Beijing Metro’s government subsidies have exceeded 25 billion yuan in each of the past five years; Shanghai Metro’s have run at around 15 billion yuan of subsidies, Southern Weekend reported.
This might change to a certain extent, starting from Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou this year.
Yes, the dominant ideology in Nigerian politics is now neoliberalism.
That all Nigeria needs is free unfettered markets to ensure efficiency of public services. Unfortunately, that is not how the real world operates, but well done to neoliberals; they’ve fully captured Nigeria.
The most important story you’ll read this week:
Nigerian politics does not lack ideology. Instead, the problem is that one ideology has become so dominant that we have stopped seeing it.

The fact that Nigeria doesn’t have a Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) which is an emergency stockpile of crude oil stored in massive underground and overground storage facilities to secure domestic supply for even a month is irresponsible national and energy security governance.
I knew we were in big existential trouble as a federation when the ONSA opened a unit for “energy security” in 2023 and it was a fella with well known ties to former and present Niger Delta militants, and not an energy expert who’d help design a strategic oil reserves network.
Aso Rock doesn’t want to do the hard work of governance. They just want to make shoddy deals with anyone who has a semblance of wielding violence against the state.
Lazy, lazy statecraft.
All of governance is solving problems and legitimizing the sovereignty of the state.
