This is unlike any sports science book you've ever read, because it's much more than a sports science book. I hope you have fun reading about the culture and humans behind the Norwegian method, and learn a bit of sports science along the way.

Getting a very active dog (husky/pit mix) has been great for fitness. At 6-months old he's learned which shoes indicate a run, so he gathers them by the door and waits.

If you ask strangers on Instagram to analyze your swim stroke, you'll receive general positivity and useless advice. If you ask the same thing on Reddit, you'll have your soul ripped out by real ones who know triathlon.

This week's race is canceled because the beach is too rocky for swim entrance/exit. Last week's ocean swim was canceled because there were waves in the ocean. Endurance racing in America has become too soft and needs a serious correction.

Wait til Brady finds out about triathlon
Endurance running has an (unfortunate) bias that longer = better/ more impressive. It’s why the marathon is the “gold standard” achievement. But running a fast 5k, 10k, or half marathon can be equally as impressive. And just as (if not more) fun to train for.

It's my 41st birthday. I have no plans to be around past 80, so we're through the halfway point of this race. I've been lucky to swim in some pretty special places over past 41 years. All I ask for my birthday are pictures of your favorite swimming holes from around the world.

The publisher of my book is an even bigger weirdo than me, which is why it's so fun. He's also even better at writing about running, so buy his new running book and watch this ridiculous video he made.
I've been a fan of runner Steve Prefontaine and rocker Kurt Cobain for a long time, and for similar reasons. I created this video as a dual tribute to these two American legends--and to promote my book, Dying to Run. If you like the video, buy the book! 8020books.com/product/dying-…

It's fine to have blueberries and bananas together as long as they're separated by strawberries.

New pool day. The best pool is the one you'll make it to most. Proximity is paramount.

You can never guarantee that a run will be a good one, but when you combine Superblasts and Ketone-IQ, it's basically impossible to have a bad one.

You only get to live, train and race in one quadrant for the rest of your life. Pick one.
