Great to share our wonderful Sphagnum
Some of our colleagues got to go and visit @beadamoss, and let me tell you that nobody who had to stay in the office was jealous. No. Soon, some of this sphagnum will help to replant the #GreatNorthBog.
We welcomed our MP James Naish today to open our glasshouse extension, taking it to 3 acres.
We can now produce over 6 million BeadaHumok each year for vital #Peatland restoration projects

We are proud to have commissioned 'Sphagnum Portraits: The most important plant in the world' by artist Caroline Vitzthum. This short film tells the story of @beadamoss and @moorsforfuture. youtu.be/hNUWjq1FW6k?si=q_KI… via @YouTube
We're in Aviemore this week for #PeatConf24! Come and see us in the exhibition space and make sure to stick around this evening for the screening of our Sphagnum Portrait!
This week our team travelled up to Oxenhope to create a Sphagnum demonstration lawn with @moorsforfuture!
We planted 6,000+ Sphagnum BeadaHumok at high density. These will grow together to exhibit the benefits of intensive revegetation in accelerating peatland restoration!
Sphagnum also strengthens the ecosystem service benefits provided by restoration, particularly carbon sequestration, flood management, and reduced risk of wild fire!
Plus the added resilience against changing climate, to strength & protect vital hydrological restoration work 💦
Thanks to the tireless work of @moorsforfuture, we spotted plenty of flourishing BeadaHumok planted over the years.
We can't wait to visit Oxenhope next autumn to find a thriving lawn of Sphagnum ✨
Great to see BeadaHumok contributing to @ManxPeat restoration! Well done for your hard work, can’t wait to see it in another 2 years! 🌿💚
Less than two years ago we planted #sphagnum plugs from @beadamoss on an area of bare peat 🌿 The difference now is amazing 😁

Sphagnum can be grown commercially by companies like @beadamoss to help #peatland restoration projects and provide an alternative to peat in compost.

Happy #WorldWetlandsDay!
We're delighted that @IUCNpeat are exploring the vital role Sphagnum moss plays in the recovery and function of peatlands.
Make sure to check out their full Species Showcase!
#WWD2024 #Sphagnum #PeatlandsMatter
#Peatlands are important wetland habitats. They play a crucial role in conserving a wide range of species and, in the UK, Sphagnum mosses are some of the most important peat-forming organisms.

We hope you all have a wonderful festive period!
From tomorrow we'll be taking a break for Christmas and we'll be back on Wednesday 3rd January, ready to send out Sphagnum to lots more restoration projects!

Huge thanks to the Moors for the Future team who joined us this week for a promising discussion on the future of Sphagnum planting in the Peak District!

Interested in learning more about the role mosses play in landscape recovery?
Join us at 6:30 this evening, we'll be contributing to an exciting line-up to explore how micropropagated Sphagnum can aid the regeneration of peatlands!

An amazing day looking at bogs, sphagnum moss, 7,000 year old bog trees.
Hosting Leibniz University of Hannover and Region Hannover to talk through shared experiences across revegetation of peatlands, sphagnum farming for peat alternatives and carbon farming.
