Nepal's August glacial flood has left a $4.8 billion recovery and reconstruction bill, more than half of it for hydropower and the grid.
As Himalayan glaciers melt, the risks to homes, livelihoods and economies are only growing.
Good discussion with Nepal’s Finance Minister Dr. @SwarnimWagle and former @UNDP economist on rebuilding hydropower, protecting communities from future floods and getting people back to work.
Nepal is one of five pilot countries in our new @UNDP–@WorldBank partnership. Time to turn financing into action on the ground!

An estimated 1.2 billion youth will enter the workfore over the next decade, but only 400 million jobs will exist. To close this gap, @UNDP has launched two global initiatives at the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok:
➡Investment Accelerator
➡Jobs for Prosperity Facility
Together with @WorldBankGroup, @EIB , & @EBRD, we are unlocking investment to build stronger economies and create better jobs.
