"I fell out of love with a lot of the game last season. The booing, Reds arguing with Reds in the stands, the Mo Salah strops, Dom Szoboszlai at City etc. Just horrible. But this campaign has been remarkably light on the heart. "Having a right back prepared to tackle with his throat if need be, a young striker who chases down defenders like Dirk Kuyt on whizz, and an incoming centre back who might already be the best in the league in his position really does warm the soul." ✍️ Karl Coppack's column... fwd.gr/1p613a49

On October 26, 2024, the death of Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Holden Trent was announced. He was just 25 years old. Two years on, his fiancée, family, friends and teammates are ready to talk; to remember a man who "went through a battle every single day to be the person he was". For more than two decades, Holden Trent defied debilitating medical conditions to reach professional status in the world's most competitive sport. This is his story. 📝 @AdamCrafton_ 🔗 nyti.ms/47FcGEW

Love this. This is what we wanted. Enjoy it. It’s not perfect, but what worth loving is?

FT: Liverpool 2 Brighton 0: That’s a massive win for Iraola’s side who climb to fourth in the PL table. Played some great stuff first half with the front three and Wirtz so influential. Defended brilliantly second half with Araujo absolutely outstanding. Big step forward.

The most entertaining half of Premier League football at Anfield in a long time. The first time I think you've really seen how exciting Liverpool's new-look attack can be. Brighton not out of this one yet though - they're a really good side. Ronald Araujo's resurgence continues.

I love football and always have but it’s so reassuring to know I’m not the only one sensing a real disconnect with it all right now. Football has always been escapism but the corruption, the greed, the lack of accountability has taken it so far from what it used to be.

This is sportswashing in action. Just ignoring the fact they've been found to have cheated for a decade and pretending everything is normal. Disgusting
Manchester City are "taking care of business on the pitch" after making their best start to a season since 1897 ⚽

Woken up and it remains an excellent, deserved win with a good team performance against a good side after a (very straightforward) European away on Wednesday.

If Isak does his job are we happy?
If Isak goes through the whole season doing nothing for 80 minutes each game but ends up with 25-30 goals… Are we happy?

Unbelievable achievement. And massive props to the Man City commercial department for generating the funds to buy, build and pay a squad of such talents over more than a decade.
7️⃣ Enzo Maresca, the first manager in the Premier League history to win all his first 7 games in charge.

“Wirtz anonymous” he created nine chances 😭😭
My thoughts 🙌 - That's a great result, the red card changed everything. - Muñoz look like a steal at 40 million, we need to make more signings like this, he was our best attacker. - Isak was absolutely non existent but got the winner, like vs Bournemouth, he is our Haaland. - Barcola end product needs serious work it's really poor, good assist for Isak though. But we clearly massively overpaid. - Wirtz was anonymous. - Jacquet was excellent again stood up to Thiago physicality. - Nyoni was tidy when he came on and helped us control 2nd half with MacAllister. - I'd defo take Kayode for our right back spot. - More injuries squad depth is really going to be tested. - Van Dijk brilliant again give him the new contract he deserves. - Ngumoha was lively in possession

Frustrated at Barcola for not being more clinical today, but I’m feeling more forgiving of him tbh, given how he constantly shows and wants to be involved. He certainly isn’t shying away from responsibility and that’s something. And he clearly has class to him.
