I’m home, I’m happy and thankful to all who look after us in #Aotearoa quarantine, keeping #NZ covid free . We owe you everything. My #rescue chooks are gradually getting used to freedom too, but it’s tentative. Sometimes they just huddle up together for comfort . Aahh.

The UK has lost 7.5m acres of wildflower meadow & flower-rich grassland since the 1930s. But nearly 1400 insect species rely on them for survival. Let's protect our last 3% of meadows, plant wildflowers, and allow more green spaces to be less over-mown 🐝

As we start rehoming again, spare a thought for the boys. We have lots of beautiful cockerels looking for homes on our Lonely Hearts page: bhwt.org.uk/adopt-a-cockerel… Cockerels aren't for everyone, but if you're able to, consider welcoming one of these boys into your life 🐓💖

An irony with weedkiller is that instead of making green spaces 'neat & tidy', it makes them ugly. While so-called 'weeds' or wildflowers can bring joy and colour, while helping wildlife for no cost or effort! As shown by these contrasting verges in our town last spring 🐝

Even a small reduction in mowing lawns and public spaces like parks, road islands, roadverges & green corners can let wildflowers grow - offering a lifeline to bees & other pollinating insects. An easy, cost-saving, emissions-reducing way to give nature a chance 🐝 #BeesNeedsWeek

Hup and I would like to say a big well done to @BHWTOfficial who are working really hard now that hen rehomings are allowed to take place again. They are only a small charity and are all mucking in to get as many hens new homes as possible. Essex this weekend!
