Feels like Wellman's upset victory in a long held GOP district ina deeply red state should get far more attention than it is. Sure, he had a baked-in online following, but 95% of them weren't Missourians. The GOP tried transphobia to depress turnout, but the didn't bite.
Still, there have been a number of decent Dem candidates for MO-2 over the years and they didn't come close. DNC didn't give Wellman's campaign much money, pundits didn't even track the race. And he outperformed every poll.
