In #belden news we have this gem - err, nugget - of info. (Though personally I think the water rights are going to be worth more than the gold.)

In #bash the wildcard catch-all case can fall-through to more refined options, which means you can write try/catch/finally style stuff if you’re so inclined: foo=hi case "$foo" in *) echo "default: $foo"; ;& hi) echo "hello there!";; esac # default: hi # hello there!

Holy crap #bash fall-through with case is even weirder than I thought foo=hi case "$foo" in *) echo "preamble" ;& hi) echo "specific handler" ;& *) echo "postamble runs too";; esac Both wildcard handlers run, this is fantastic

.@FranzBakery Hey I’m a social media influencer with 206 followers, probably 90% of which are bots. I’d like to discuss how my broad social media empire can help boost your Summer 2026 quarterly sales. In a word: bananadogs.

.@FranzBakery If I can convince my kids to try them, then who knows - banana dogs might be sweeping my back yard! My back yard, then WA, and then the whole nation: united in our universal love for banana dogs! These could be your buns that everyone enjoys nibbling!

.@FranzBakery The upside of me having such a large bot ratio is that bots have no prejudices against bananas. Bots don’t have peanut butter allergies. Bots don’t say things like, “The banana dog is an abomination which is part of summoning the Elder Gods.”

.@franzbakery This is how I’ve been making my banana peanut butter sandwiches recently. Franz Hawaiian bun and honey roasted peanut butter.

Looking at magical “far away dates” in our code, I discover these tidbits: • we have no records in some table which were created before 1900-01-01 • that same table has no records created after 3000-01-01 …I can’t dispute either of those assumptions.

.@BlueJeansCable Looks like I need to upgrade all my HDMI cables bluejeanscable.com/store/hdm… // @BeldenInc

Ok maybe I don’t need a new HDMI cable because @BlueJeansCable has an article bluejeanscable.com/articles/… saying “Hey dummy you probably don’t need this”, BUT they fail to say “It’s dumb to make a vanity purchase of an HDMI cable just because we use @BeldenInc” so maybe it’s okay

.@Codecademy When I go to sign up and use GitHub as an oauth provider, why do you request such a large scope: to read and write all of my repositories?! That’s INSANE!!1!!11 Signing in with Google has a much more sensible scope: know my name, email address, and profile picture.
