In June 2022, I went to Victory MMA in San Diego to meet @jockowillink for the first time and discuss adapting Way of the Warrior Kid into a movie. In that very first meeting, he asked me who should play Uncle Jake. My answer: @prattprattpratt would play him. Who I did not know at the time. Every once in a while, the universe conspires to the manifestation of a plan. I told Jocko our philosophy would be to build an F-35 and bring it to a knife fight. That is, make is so undeniable that the town could not pass on it. I'll have much more to say in the coming weeks as we gear up to the release of the movie, as there are so many involved who helped bring this movie to life. For now, enjoy our poster reveal. Trailer drops in 24 hours. Discipline = Freedom Long live the movies.
First poster for ‘WAY OF THE WARRIOR KID’, starring Chris Pratt and Jude Hill. The film follows a decorated Navy SEAL who trains his nephew to stand up to his bullies. Releasing November 20 on Apple TV.

An uphill battle when going up against its own cultural juggernaut of a film franchise. Fascinated to see how this will be received.
Harry Potter is expected to be HBO’s most expensive series ever Around $201 million may have been spent on the series, Deadline reports

Everyone in Hollywood is asking whether A.I. is coming for their job. It is, make no mistake. Resistance is futile. But this does not spell doomsday. Used well, A.I. is a tool for filmmakers, lowering the barrier to entry for cinematic scale once accessible only to the biggest studios. That means a first-time director can pitch with a proof-of-concept instead of a lookbook, and voices that only dreamed of studio budgets can finally compete on the screen. Cheaper and faster production means movies reach profitability sooner. Sooner profitability means more greenlights. More greenlights means more movies, and the snowball keeps rolling. That doesn’t mean the transition will be painless. Some jobs will change and some will disappear. New ones will emerge. The evolution of Hollywood continues. As I keep saying: when anyone can make a Hollywood-level production, the only stories that resonate through the noise will be those executed at the highest level. Story, character, and execution matter now more than ever. Long live the movies.

Tax credit projects now make up 40% of on-location filming in LA. This is nearly double 2025's share. Productions chase incentives.

I told you it was huge, but official figures from giant BFI IMAX’s #BoxOffice came better than even I expected! #DunePartThree just smashed the ALL TIME RECORD of tickets sold in 24 hours at the iconic British theatre, beating even #TheOdyssey (see Top 5 below) Over 33.000 tickets have been sold on TUE, generating $1.2M (£888k) in revenue, beating #TheOdyssey’s 28.000 previous record: Top5 highest grossing films in 24h at the BFI IMAX #DunePartThree $1.2M (£880k) #TheOdyssey $1M (£750k) #DunePartTwo’s $465k (£366k back in 2024) #Oppenheimer’s $328k (£254k back in 2023) #AVATARFIREANDASH $155k (£116,000 back in 2025)

Lightning in a bottle. Hollywood is HARD. Can never fully predict 24 months out (reasonable amount of time to develop, produce, and distribute a film) what will captivate an audience.
YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING ($2.5M) has officially beaten STREET FIGHTER ($1.8M) yesterday. It’s the first movie this century to be the #1 film in America while playing in less than 1,000 theaters.

Today's edition of the log line for a soon to be written feature film.
Christian McCaffrey's grandpa was the fastest man on Earth, and at the 1960 Olympics he was quietly helping the CIA try to flip a Soviet athlete. That's the family tree behind this jersey swap, and the rest of it is even better. His name was Dave Sime. He showed up at Duke on a baseball scholarship as a premed kid, taught himself to sprint by reading every track book in the library, and in 1956 he tied the world record in the 100-yard dash. Sports Illustrated called him the world's fastest human and put him on the cover. At the Rome Olympics he lost the 100 meters in a photo finish and took silver. On that same trip he was working on getting a Soviet long jumper to defect. Pro baseball teams wanted him and the Detroit Lions drafted him, but he went to med school and spent his career in Miami doing more than 10,000 eye surgeries. Then his youngest daughter Lisa went to Stanford to play soccer and fell for a wide receiver named Ed McCaffrey. Ed played 13 years in the NFL and won three Super Bowls, the first one with the 49ers. Ed and Lisa had four boys, and all four played big-time college football. Max played receiver at Duke, the same school where his grandpa set records. Christian was the Heisman runner-up at Stanford. Dylan played QB at Michigan. Luke, the youngest, was a quarterback at Nebraska who transferred to Rice, switched to receiver, and got drafted 100th overall in 2024. Three of them made the NFL. Christian had played with or against every brother except Luke, which is why he said going into Monday that this game would complete the cycle. Luke has one thing on his famous brother too. He ran a 4.47 forty at the 2024 combine, and Christian ran a 4.48 back in 2017. So the fastest McCaffrey brother, by one hundredth of a second, is the kid who spent most of college playing quarterback. The 49ers won 23-17 and Christian punched in two touchdowns. After the whistle Luke was already out of his Commanders jersey while Christian pulled off the one with the captain's C. The man who said no to the Lions ended up grandpa to three NFL players. He died in January 2016, before any of them had played a down.

What about Netflix buying them outright?
If I were Netflix, I would hire whoever is greenlighting and acquiring films at A24. Talk about a studio that knows how to keep budgets under control, generate buzz, and get multiple films into the awards conversation every single year.

Prediction: Lionsgate is gobbled up by someone bigger than Legendary. Pun intended for the Godzilla fans.
#Skydance’s success in buying two Hollywood studios may have opened a Pandora Box, inspiring other production companies to climb the ladder. And oh boy, it’s happening quickly, as #Dune & #Godzilla films production company #Legendary is reportedly bidding to acquire #Lionsgate, what caused #Lionsgate’s stock to skyrocket almost +17% this TUE. So far, none of the companies confirm or deny the bid, and there have been other recent false reports involving possible #Lionsgate’s acquisition, but for some reason this time #WallStreet seems to be sure it’s actually happening. We will have to wait and see…

The consolidation continues... In order for legacy media to survive the big tech takeover, these moves are inevitable. Wait til Apple knocks on the doors of someone like Disney (or... Netflix?).

Netflix has been the biggest disruptor in Hollywood history. It went from mailing DVDs (and burying Blockbuster) to making streaming mainstream (forcing the entire town to pivot) to producing original content at a volume no one could match, in a short 15 years. This was driven by necessity. With no library to mine, Netflix had to build one. A glance at the WB or Universal slate in any year shows a largely IP-driven sequel machine. Netflix spent billions on genuinely original programming instead, and real diamonds came out of it: Stranger Things, Squid Game, Bridgerton, The Queen’s Gambit, Adolescence, to name a few. Next, it went after the final boss of media: live events. NFL on Christmas Day, MLB's Home Run Derby, WWE, exhibition boxing, plus a run of big-name concert specials. Billions in commitments that might once have gone to scripted. Then Skydance came for Warner Bros., and Netflix was pulled into the theatrical conversation. It had a deal but lost the fight. Nonetheless, Fincher’s Cliff Booth hits theaters next month and Gerwig’s Narnia follows in February. Last week’s shakeup, with Bela Bajaria & Dan Lin out and Peter Rice in, signals the strategy is still being rewritten. It’s a tough stretch: slowing US growth, a falling stock, 1,000 layoffs. But international penetration still has a long runway, and Netflix has reinvented itself before. At the end of the day, Netflix thrives or doesn’t on the quality of what it puts on screen, live or scripted. And in that respect, I would not bet against Netflix. Content reigns supreme. Long live the movies.
Netflix is evolving right before our eyes. Mass layoffs, including top executives. Yes, a company obsessed with algorithms, data and AI is downsizing, while suddenly and without warning, reporting theatrical box office numbers. This is a larger tell than you think. Perhaps Netflix is discovering something Hollywood has known for a century… technology can predict behavior, but it can’t manufacture cultural relevance. That’s theatrical. Always has been. And they’re finally acknowledging that. Ironic because Netflix spent two decades convincing Hollywood that the theatrical model was becoming obsolete… and now it’s experimenting with the very system it helped undermine.

It’s also wild that this is Tampa Bay’s third trip to the World Series despite only 329 years of existence. Something in the water down there! For Cubs or Brewers fans, that’s remarkable.
This is wild... A Brewers fan could fly to Tampa and attend Game 3, 4 OR 5...and still spend nearly $1K LESS than the cheapest ticket to Game 1 in Milwaukee. ✈️ Flight: $780 🏠 Airbnb: $290 🎟️ Game 4 on @TickPick: $746 Total: $1,816 Game 1 in Milwaukee: $2,797

Baltimore deserves far more credit for ushering in the age of beautiful ballparks 30+ years ago. They keep getting better and better.
Kansas City has unveiled plans for a $2 billion baseball stadium carved into limestone bluffs. Designed by Populous for the Kansas City Royals, the proposed 34,000-seat ballpark would be built in the Crown Center district, requiring excavation approximately 90 feet (27 meters) deep. The design features a lightweight canopy shading around 65% of the seats, panoramic downtown views, and the return of the Royals' iconic crown-shaped scoreboard and fountains. Construction could begin in 2027, with the stadium targeted to open for the 2030 MLB season. Renderings: Populous / Kansas City Royals.
