#ResidentEvil isn’t just the best video game adaptation that’s come out of Hollywood, it’s one of the most entertaining horror movies of the year - in a year that’s been packed with excellent horror offerings.

But given how many times those have been remade and reimagined at this point, Cregger’s take is better for the balance it finds between staying true to what makes playing Resident Evil so fun, and inviting viewers in with an entirely new character and storyline.

To that end, it should entertain anyone regardless of their knowledge of the franchise and I think even fans who wished it was something different will likely be very satisfied by the time credits roll.

Pretty accurate
So I did the thing! Comic Con was a amazing. I haven't enjoyed a con this much in years. As an indie creator & builder, this marks a massive milestone: from signing at empty comic shops, to tabling at small conventions, to building on Solana, to speaking at SDCC! I'm still processing, but as someone who has been putting the tech & business side at the forefront for so long, it was really inspirational. Feels like this was a great milestone which will mark an upcoming reset for me, where I can focus on writing and creating a whole lot more. (clips coming soon)

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is excellent and it's 1 of (if not the) best movies in all 3 series. It's emotional, funny, and the action is better than ever. Yet, the marketed "secrecy" around it may actually leave fans surprised/let down by how straightforward it all actually is.

There are twists (and I'm not spoiling anything here) but they're in service of the story and emotional journey Peter is working through - not MCU world-building stunt scenes. And most fans will be able to work-out where it's all headed based on everything we've seen in trailers.

That's all to say: my advice is to go in with expectations in-check. It's a great movie but it isn't going shock people with a ton of unexpected shared-universe gimmicks that were obscured or altered in the marketing. If you focus on Peter's evolution, there's plenty to love.

What's that sense of impending "doom"? Why that's just the fact that official #SDCC @Marvel #AvengersDoomsday banners have hit the Gaslamp ahead of the con: sdccblog.com/2026/06/san-die…

#supermariomovie getting some mixed reviews out the gate. I’ll say this: I agree, it tries to do too much and there are some distracting Easter eggs/references. BUT I still think it’s fun, my kid cackled like a maniac, and we talked all the way home about her favorite parts.

#28yearslaterthebonetemple is easily the weirdest entry in the series - which, for some viewers, will be a welcome continuation of the subversive direction last year’s 28 Years Later took the franchise.

Ultimately, with the saturation of zombie movies and TV shows that have come and gone since the originals, The Bone Temple provides plenty of surprises but could be disappointing to viewers who are looking for excitement over contemplation in their zombie viewing.

Moviegoers approaching the film as an indie character drama that happens to take place long after a zombie rage virus crippled the continent may be more forgiving (or even very pleased).
