Mississippi Senate: AP has Colom up 65, DDHQ up 1,864. Which is right? We checked county reports: AP is missing batches counties already released. Local figures match DDHQ in Warren, Clay and Lowndes, putting Colom's floor near +1,240 before affidavits. #MSSen #Mississippi

This is interesting that the affidavits are bluer than the in person ballots. But I was watching the news last night and they said Stacy Abram’s team prepared for this because they knew voters were being inactivated from the voter-rolls.

By ballot type in Lafayette (Colom share of two-party vote):
Election Day: 49.4%
In-person absentee: 54.2%
Mail absentee: 59.1%
Affidavit: 70.3%
Countywide he's at 50.6%. Affidavits were the bluest ballot type by a wide margin.

DEMOCRATS WIN SENATE POPULAR VOTE ACROSS FORMER CONFEDERATE STATES
Democrats won the combined Senate popular vote across ten former Confederate states, securing 20,782,908 votes (53.74%) to Republicans' 17,888,197 (46.26%)—a margin of nearly 2.9 million votes.
The result is a major victory for Democrats in a region Republicans have dominated for decades. High Black voter turnout helped fuel the result, carrying particular historical significance in states where Black Americans were once denied the right to vote.
Democrats broke decades-long losing streaks in Texas and South Carolina. James Talarico became the first Democrat elected to the U.S. Senate from Texas since Lloyd Bentsen in 1988, while Annie Andrews delivered South Carolina's first Democratic Senate victory since 1998.

VoteHub is still tracking every update in the uncalled races. So far, no race has caught our eye as very likely to flip. Key drops are expected tonight in AZ-02, CA-23 and WA-05, all potential Republican-to-Democratic flips. We’ll share updates if any become more competitive.

14,000 to 18,000 affidavit ballots remain outstanding throughout the state, according to attorney Lisa Ross, who is leading the effort to monitor election officials processing the remaining ballots. MS GOP Chair Mike Hurst claims as many as 20,000 outstanding ballots left
The razor-thin margin between Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith and Democratic challenger Scott Colom has already shocked many across the nation, but it remained too close to call on Thursday. ow.ly/Ck8E5104gUL

Spoiler Alert: Mississippi has been disenfranchising BLACK voters for years in every way possible so if the outstanding ballots are from Affidavits, 9 times out of 10 they were given to BLACK voters who voted overwhelmingly for Colom. She should have conceded election night.

Mississippi Senate: what the late-reporting batches show so far.
Since 3:48 AM ET Wednesday, AP has posted updates in 15 counties. Colom's lead grew by 1,770 votes, to 1,813 as of 5:16 PM ET today. About 91% of that came from 3 counties: Clay +713, Lauderdale +511, Warren +391.
Follow-up chart. Two tests for each late batch: did Hyde-Smith win it (bar past 50%), and did she beat that county's earlier count (bar past the tick)?
She won 4 batches and beat the county baseline once (Clay). In 15 counties, no batch did both.
Update: the first affidavit test is in. Lafayette's 207 affidavits went 70% Colom on two-party vote, vs 50% countywide. Full breakdown and our new range:

Mississippi Senate: the first hard signal on affidavit ballots in two days.
Lafayette County broke out its count by ballot type. Its 207 affidavits went Colom 142, Hyde-Smith 60, Pinkins 5. That exactly matches the batch AP added at 4:38 PM ET, so that batch was affidavits.
Our expectation now: Colom wins by roughly 5,500 to 8,000 votes, up from 1,813 today. Hinds' 8,070 absentees are still the biggest piece.
If those absentees turn out to be already counted, the range drops to about 2,000-4,000. Colom stays ahead in every scenario we ran.
How this fits what we've posted:
Late batches ran bluer than their counties: teapawt.net/bert_on_spec/status/21…

Update: DDHQ has now added the small Alcorn batch AP took earlier (Hyde-Smith +31). DDHQ: Colom +1,852. AP: Colom +1,138, still missing Lauderdale's absentees. No Hinds or other affidavit results posted yet.
Close to enough for us. Since Wednesday, AP batches in 15 counties grew Colom's lead to 1,813. 14 of 15 ran bluer than the county's earlier count.
The first batch confirmed as affidavits, Lafayette's, went 70% Colom vs 50% countywide. Hinds still hasn't added anything.
