The Cubs took RHP Chase Meyer in the 9th Rd of the 2026 draft, and he flashed awesome stuff in 7.1 IP in Myrtle Beach in August.
7.1 IP
10 Ks - 5 BB
1 ER
17 Whiffs (All in Video)
- 8 Curveball (83-85 mph)
- 5 Fastball (94-96 mph)
- 4 Cutter (87-90 mph)
Pretty sweet stuff ⬇️
Thankful for a great 2026 minor league season!
Tons of lessons, some catch plays , more mound visits, but still time to work on my gyro slider.

Pierce Coppola was filthy tonight:
5.0 IP | 0 H | 0 R | 2 BB | 7 K
He has a 3.44 ERA with 82 Ks across 68.0 IP this season and is only getting better.
A name to watch.

Chase Meyer with another strong outing tonight:
4.0 IP | 4 H | 0 R | 2 BB | 4 K
His stuff is some of the best in the system.
The cutter really stood out tonight, sitting 89-91 with big horizontal movement.

Thank you to Zayne Choe, Pelicans bat person and 2023 Employee of the Year, for your time at Pelicans Ballpark.
Best of luck at USC!

Cubs 2026 10th-round pick Luke Alwood made his pro debut with Myrtle Beach tonight.
He pitched 2.0 scoreless innings, struck out five, and walked none.
His fastball was up to 99 mph.

Congrats to @LukeAlwood_, who just had one of the best professional debut innings I’ve ever seen.
The Cubs 10th round pick was one away from an immaculate inning, striking out side in order on 10 pitches, touching 99 mph on broadcast radar gun.
Welcome to the org, sir!

After adding a changeup this season, Gavin Hollowell has a 2.08 ERA (13 inn).
He added a changeup to get lefties out (uses it once every 4 pitches). The changeup allows Counsell to use Gavin against lineups with a lefty in the mix.
Here's every changeup thrown for a strike.

Gavin Hollowell since being recalled:
10.1 IP | 0.87 ERA | 0.97 WHIP
29.3% K% | 9.8% BB% | .167 BAA
83.4 mph EV | 25.0% Hard-Hit%
The walks and contact suppression are great signs. Glad to finally see him sticking in the bigs.

Keep an eye on Braylon Myers in Myrtle Beach.
He’s running a 2.17 ERA with 43 K through 37.1 IP so far this season and is now stretching out as a starter.
Quality four-pitch mix led by his fastball and sweeper. Lives around the zone, mixes well, and keeps opponents off balance.

Cubs 2025 7th-rounder Pierce Coppola is putting together a nice season in Single-A Myrtle Beach:
7 GS | 29.0 IP
2.79 ERA | 2.90 FIP
35.3% K% | 12.9% BB%
32.1% Whiff% | 77.5% Z-Con%
He dealt with injuries in college, but is a high upside arm who’s making a strong impression.

Josiah Hartshorn looks like a true top prospect in all of baseball.
He’s hit 13 HR with a .586 SLG while posting a 7.2% SwStr% and 1.02 BB/K. Just 19 years old, switch-hits, and can play across the outfield as well as first base.
