Google cools the TPUs with thermal interface material linked to aluminum and copper heat pipes that carry heat to external radiators. Those radiators dump the energy into space as infrared radiation—the only option in vacuum, since there's no air for convection or fans. The current setup only supports short ~15-minute compute bursts before the chips must power down so the radiators can catch up.
